Something oddly satisfying with the pictures where the building(s) are still there. Kinda makes one feel like they're actually living through history.

As an old guy and I remember lots of old Toronto ( such as pre Eaton Centre) I love this, just discovered it and looking forward to going through your past videos!
  • I like a lot of the 'before' pictures more than the 'now.' The beautiful old architecture that was torn down to build glass towers is just sad. I really think we have no concept of history and preservation in this country, for the most part. I'm old enough to remember when they wanted to tear down the old Toronto city hall. That was a heck of a fight - thank goodness they didn't do it !! After they cleaned off the decades worth of black grime, it looked just even more fabulous, and STILL does !! A nice, historic, centre piece to the down town core, and a complimentary 'twin' to Queen's Park, in many ways. :)

I love the work you're doing here, thank you. Suggestion: After showing the befores and afters, perhaps a side by side view as the third tile for each set of two images?
  • Im so glad I grew up in Atlantic Canada. I love Toronto, but these old photos remind me of what the average Torontonian grew up in since childhood, and it really explains a lot.

0:32 I worked at 201 Carlaw in the '90s for a direct mail marketing company and the building was eventually converted into beautiful lofts - I love your video, it takes me back I am an '80s nostalgia girl but also had fun in the 1990s as well (I grew up near Caledonia & Rogers Road just west of St. Nicholas of Bari Catholic elementary school on other side of the train tracks)
  • When there were no shootings, and nobody wandering around downtown screaming their heads off in a mental delusion. No homeless camps and no garbage.

I’m almost 70 and was born and raised in Toronto. I remember going to that Towers store and have been to many of these places you’ve shown. It almost seems that progress has ruined what was a wonderful city to grow up in. Thanks for this👍👍🇨🇦

Gerard Square than over to the Towers and Consumers Distributing was a weekly outing with my grandparents. Then, as I got older, I'd take my grandmother to the Knob Hill they opened there to do her grocery shopping (after Sears, of course).

Great video . I have never seen so many cool pics of the Carlaw area . This video sort of makes me sad in some ways.

I love Toronto. Born and raised there. I love the historical aspects of all the old buildings especially old city hall. The flat iron building on Front street. Just a thing of beauty.

Such a shame all those beautiful character buildings gone, replaced by skyscrapers with zero character..and we call it progress..
