THIS STORY:

Wanda Elaine Stopa was a Polish-American lawyer and murderer. She was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1900. She studied at The John Marshall Law School and became Chicago's youngest and first woman assistant U.S. district attorney.
Stopa tried to shoot her lover's wife at her home in Palos Park, but accidentally shot and killed their 68-year old gardener, Henry Manning. She fled the scene and led the police on a manhunt.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named ā€œThe Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...

This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

  • @larauch13
She had so much going for her. So sad she took the inevitable tragic track she did. Thank you for sharing her story.

No matter the rain, snow or sleet, our friend Ron battles the weather and is on the beat, bringing us information on stories of long ago (and some recent). That just popped in my head, Lol..ā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ™‚ You do an amazing job with your video's Ron and I really enjoy watching them. I have 4 favorite YouTube channels that I watch, but I always watch your video's first before I watch the other channels, your my top favorite channel. You be careful out there on that snow & ice! Your knee isn't completely healed yet.šŸ’œšŸ™‚ Be safe. I'm already waiting on your next video.šŸ˜€šŸ˜‚

Yes, she was dumb to throw away a great career.

Sad ending brought about by selfishness acted out. She was one of those, "it's all about me" people. It just never ends up well when we let our jealousies and desires take us over. What a story!

"We are in, again" Love that phrase. Great video.

What a story! The poor gardener had nothing to do with the situation. Remember your first one. I think Iā€™ve watched all of them

Great video about a woman who was modern by today's standard but well ahead of her own time. Lost her head over love.
  • @vincemarshall5087
Thank you for going through all of that snow to share this story. How sad that Wanda, who was smart enough to become a lawyer in a time when it was highly unusual for a woman to do, was foolish enough to fall in love with such a liar. Sad that she killed the gardener. Great job, as always.

Any place colder than a snow covered cemetery?šŸ„¶

Hi Ron, wow what a tragic ending to such a promising life, she had it all, good looks and a great career but just threw it all away for a married man. Thank you for sharing, I hope you are well and keeping warm with all of that snow around, much love to you and your family. xx šŸ™šŸ’–

I pray Wanda's spirit is at rest for she made terrible choices in regards to being someone's mistress. Killing the gardener was horrible as he had nothing to do with it. The husband should've bared the burden of this drama. Wanda was responsible for her actions but the husband didn't make it easy for all involved as well.
  • @ninanonna2007
What a crazy story. What a waste of a obviously brilliant woman. Love does make people do dumb things. Stay safe and warm Ron. Love and prayers from a cold and soon to be covered again in snow NYCā¤ļøšŸŽšŸ˜·
  • We love your videos!!! We have erected and restored grave monuments to promote U.S. history since 1983. We admire you in dealing with all that snow. God bless you Sir.
