Fun Fact: Come to Your Senses is the actual song Jonathan wrote for Superbia.
  • “Who is she?“ That is the magnificent Alexandra Shipp. She is also a fellow Marvel alum like Andrew; she was young Storm in Dark Phoenix and X-Men Apocalypse
  • @chaingang90
I absolutely love how Susan (Alexandra Shipp) and Karessa (vanessa hudgens) have two different styles of presenting. Susan is vulnerable, broken, and at her last straw trying to get through to jonathan to keep the hope of saving their love, which is what jon realises too little too late. Karessa is simply performing a song she's just learnt and doesn't fully understand the weight that the message of the song bears to jonathan, so she's just performing in her stage persona.

Knew you would love the song. In regard to the different singing styles of the two actresses, Susan (Alexandra Shipp) is singing directly to Jonathan about their deteriorating relationship and is showing all of the emotions that she's feeling. Karessa (Vanessa Hudgens) is performing the song at a workshop for potential show backers so while she can act through the song as required, she doesn't have the total emotional investment that Susan does. Even so, the ladies are just terrific and the song itself is just too good. Did you notice Bradley Whitford as Stephen Sondheim? That one pose with his head tilted and one hand on his chin absolutely captures the great man.

I love that the recurring theme is that the duets in this show absolutely slap because all of the actors blend with each other so beautifully. The music direction for this movie was so on task.
  • The version in the movie is actually not the full song. Alexandra and Vanessa did a music video of the full song. The song is actually a solo piece, but LMM did a beautiful job adapting it to a duet with similar vibes to "What You Own" from Rent.
  • @JacksonLane02
I don't watch many musical films but Tick Tick Boom makes me want to watch more.
  • @FERnando-xo5lv
omg i can´t wait for you to listen Why and Louder than words!!
  • @Croissantsss
Fun fact, this song is actually a solo in the stage version of TTB (the actress who plays Susan also plays karessa) and they made it into a duet for the movie. So if you want to do a solo cover, you could also do the stage arrangement!
  • @boonegrigsby
This was probably my favorite song in the movie. I'm really happy that you did a reaction to this one because I was curious about how to do those high notes with out lifting with it and keeping it grounded.
  • @benjiiuler
Alexandra Shipp already make me feel in love with your voice. WHAT A VOICE!!!
  • @KhailSOLO
I can’t believe Vanessa Something got this and Princess Switch 3 released almost at the same time. I wonder if she lives at Netflix HQ now.
  • @eelleeaannoorr
This channel became my favourite reaction channel so quickly. I've always been worried to watch a vocal coach react to a song because I thought there was gonna be a lot of "this isn't being done right" or something along the lines, but I'm definitely glad I stumbled across this channel in particular.
  • Just an FYI it’s actually originally sung by one person but you won’t find sheet music for it unless Netflix releases it as that was from Sheet Music found at The Library in of Congress’ Larson collection as we know that Superbia never got produced.
  • This song reminds me, melodically, of "Will I" from RENT. You can see so many parralells in the songs from this and RENT. The melodic patterns, chords, and the questions from here are almost fully answered in RENT, and the questions posed in RENT was answered here.
  • I was hoping you would comment on when she places the emphasis on the "music BOX melody" it's so powerful and sticks out everytime I hear it!
  • i was waiting for you to react to this one!! i knew you would love Alexandra Shipp’s voice
  • @angel665b
Used this as an audition song a long time ago. It's got such range.
  • @jedelusional
This is my very recent fave song. Im obsessed with this and the end credit version too. Such beautiful song. Larson did so well on this 🥺🥺
