In this video I describe the Ultimate Small Get Home Bag. The thinking behind this bag is something that will carry you through 4 to 48 hours in an emergency situation.

This is a small UTG Messenger Bag that I have turned into the Ultimate Small Get Home Bag. In the bag I have tried to cover all of the bases when it comes to get you home, should the need arise. I have also tried to cover most of the 10 C's to Survivability. In this bag, there is everything from shelter to cutting tools and cordage to containers. There is about two days worth of food and snacks, water filtration and purification. There is also a first-aid kit, an area map of the state I live in, several compasses and knives, and many more items that you find in this video. I have tried to keep the contents down to just enough items to get you home and nothing else.

One of the most important things I have also tried to keep in mind is the weight of the entire bag including a full container of water. Currently, the bag weighs 11.4 pounds.

Great bag and Stanley cup. Years ago, I lightened my BOB and turned it into an EDC bag. I ditched the redundancies and decided that mini emergencies happen way more often than zombie outbreaks. I now carry a lighter, knife, emergency cash, 2 small but good flashlights, mini charging options (wall/USB/lighter)for my cell, gum, telescopic pen, gum, etc. You reminded me that I need to refill my snacks pouch. Now I have extra room. Thanks for vid.
  • I expected a redundant video with nothing interesting in such a small bag, but you actually managed to nail it. Well played sir
  • That is a seriously stocked, compact little survival bag. I am truly impressed with how much you fit into that bag.

That UTG pack really redefined my whole set-up. I love it, and I have enough in it to last more than 3 days. Great vid, brother.
  • A very nice vid. Since this is a get home bag, I would suggest a couple of pair of good quality socks if you are going to be doing a lot of walking. You need to take care of your dogs and you gotta change your socks 2 or 3 times a day when walking alot.
  • Six cutting tools, six fire starters, six tinders, six compasses... I think in a kit that small you'd be better off replacing a lot of those redundant items with new items that give you additional capabilities.

Department of Redundancy Department APPROVED! You are on point! That is probably the closest GHB I have seen to my ideal GHB. Excellent!
  • My dad used to carry a can of peanuts in his glove box. We lived in Houston, and his commute was easily 90 minutes, so having a snack made sense. He was also a Scout leader, so being prepared for "just in case" was his standard operating procedure.

Terrific bag. Amazing how much it will carry, yet is compact. You have it nicely laid out. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I love this!!! Like the other person, I looked at the length of film and wasn't sure so I had it on in the background. Very quickly though, I was paying attention. What a great set up, goes to show that you don't need to carry a huge pack. Couldn't agree more, it's a bag to get you home.
  • Nice setup, I myself prefer the metal tent stakes because you can lay them across two logs with your fire underneath and create a grill top.
  • Wonder if people could learn how to leave a comment to add to videos, in such a way, that they didn’t sound like total know-it-all jerks that I hope to never run into in this real world. I would like to say that if there was a emergency situation, this guy would defiantly be glad that he added several of the same things so that he could share. I would defiantly want all of my three children who might be traveling with me to have a whistle, mini knife and compass without packing several kits, that they would probably loose or forget at home anyway. Thanks for the video.
  • Great video and thank you for your time putting this together. A lot of good items, you're well prepared!
  • Really complete job and impressive in such a small bag....nice kit.
  • Pretty well thought out kit, someone already mentioned the having over redundancies but overall very well thought out
  • I'm from NC too! Eastern NC. Nice to see other like minded folks from NC!
  • Wow, you got a lot of items in that small bag. I've got to learn how to pack things well.

That's a lot of really good stuff in a pretty small bag. I like that set up: compact but still has all the basics that you need for short term survival. I'm in Georgia, so it's nice to see someone else in the southeast to compare items with. Very nice, take care!

The SOL products are awesome too. Very light, and compact. The credit card knives are good to keep in the wallet as well.
