  • I used to share a table at an Italian restaurant in Battersea with Dominic. Once I asked him what he did for a living and he said he played the guitar and left it there. It wasn't until he offered me tickets to hear Sting at Albert Hall that, when I showed up, I realized that, yes he played the guitar (for Sting). That is how humble a person he is.

This is what the fans want, a tutorial from the original artists himself, so kind and I salute you sir

I recently went to a Sting concert (May 2022). I sat front row right in front of Dominic. I'd never seen or heard of him. I ended up spending most of the show watching him. He noticed and gave me his pick at the end of the show. What a class act and incredible musician.

Love how he casually started playing Bach perfectly like it was nothing. Gotta respect how humbly this man teaches. Much love sir :’)
  • This is actually dope that the artist cares enough to put out his OWN video on how it's actually played.

Can't believe he played BWV 997 Prelude!!! I love that piece so much I always play it as a warmup. Thanks Mr. Miller! :D

This is the song my wife and I fell in love to... driving to Cedar Key on maybe our third date. Fate took her from me in February at only 51 and learning how to play this song properly has been real therapy. Thank you for posting the authentic chords Dominic.

The fact that he recognized the engineering part of musical architecture, just made my day. Cheers.

That's the first time I listen to Dominic Miller. What a nice guy.

Such an eloquently soft-spoken expressive man and a wonderful guitarist/musician! 🍷🍷🎸🎸
  • I read in an interview with Dominic that "The Shape of My Heart" came from a simple warm-up exercise when he was starting a practice session with Sting. When Sting heard it he said "wait" and went for a walk and came back with the lyrics. Wow. True talent and genius rolled into one. Thank you Dominic for postting these inspirations!

"Bach is... scales with personality." - Dominic MIller

This video/tutorial from Dominic is priceless. " I practice hyper slow so I can focus on the sound" I could listen to this master talk about guitar and music all day long. Play on Dominic
  • Just when you thought that the real playing of "Shape" was pure gold, along comes the most truthful and illuminating insight into the unfathomable process of writing a song. Long live Dominic Miller! Cheers from Argentina.

50 years after becoming acquainted with guitar I am now becoming familiar with it. I wish I had begun learning in earnest earlier. I deeply appreciate this video.

Finally had a chance to see the master himself at Sting’s concert a few days back here in Canada. For the first 10 mins of the concert I didn’t realise it was him playing the guitar next to Sting because I wasn’t in the first row. Such a great musician.
  • Genius man. The importance of practice slowly, precisely and focus on clean sound is everything. Most guitarists don't do that. They try to get faster and faster and the listener is not willing to follow and enjoy the music with it's sound melody.
  • I've played at playing guitar for 30 years. Only now as an adult have I really started to understand it musically. It is so deeply gratifying and encouraging to hear a true master speak about the writing process that I can identify with. Almost a little like Bob Ross, "Well that was a happy accident!" I have felt that compulsion to complete the circle so strong lately as I play, thank you sir for your insights! I have seen you perform live and it forever changed my perception of how the guitar enhances the music.

3:03 "The other thing I like to do is practice Bach... when I was learning... teachers I had recommended doing scales & arpeggios & I kind of rebelled against that, didn't like doing it... in fact I was probably quite lazy or something... the solution for me was to play Bach... because Bach is full of scales, except that it's scales with personality & beauty."
