at time of posting, it looks like this bag is now on SALE in Canada (not sure about US), $30 cheaper than what I paid!! * Thanks for watching! As mentioned, this video is not sponsored - after browsing for a new bag I landed on this one and it's a keeper. What other bag are you interested in but haven't pulled the trigger on? Let me know! And here are the links to items I used in the video 👇 Mixi bag (USA): amzn.to/3zju1Fz Mixi bag (CAN): amzn.to/3RJMaT2 Cord organizer: amzn.to/3xqY6lY Passport pouch: amzn.to/4bo8ska . Everything old is new again! Kind of old school, like an old hard American Touristor!! I like this! Hope it holds up long term!

I don’t want to be “That Person”….but…until clamshells hit the travel scene - a deep suitcase with a one-sided zip opening was the standard for a lot of luggage. Seems like simple physics that you can cram more stuff into one deep bin than two shallow bins….the hard-siders can take a bit more punishment on the road, but only if they are very well made…$$$$ !! I also love resale shop luggage…..IF it’s totally functional, the correct size for my trip and Does Not Stink!! I delude myself into thinking that old, beat-up luggage isn’t that enticing to a thief…but that’s just my fantasy - I am aware!!💕 Happy & safe travels to all!!!
  • At 8.5 pounds, it's pretty heavy if you want to keep total weight to about 17 pounds, about the weight some foreign airlines require for carry on. Otherwise, it will get checked...and it's even a bit to large for a lot of European airlines.

Regarding unusual baggage colors: A friend of mine has bright purple luggage…she has had her underwear (just her underwear!) gone missing somewhere between her point of origin and destination twice now! I have had good luck with teal, it contrasts with all the black bags, but apparently doesn’t scream “steal my underwear”! 😂😊😂

I always hated the clamshell design when it became the norm, hence why I still like my soft shell top opening ones. Just more compact and can lean the top lid against a wall, instead of having to spread out the clam shell on the ground. Thanks for sharing

I love the top open style. Packing cubes are the game-changer that makes this style ver efficient for me. I love the look of this sturdier piece of luggage.

I won’t buy a hard shell suitcase because they are too heavy and I don’t like spinners because they waste space and don’t handle cobblestones well. I do like the basic design, and as other people have pointed out, almost all luggage used to work like this.

The cup holder!!! Omg!! As a parent, I have zero spare hands and always need to scoff a coffee so I have a hand free for kids lol. I love the simple stuff
  • @clintonjackson1259
that top opening feature is the only way a hard shell suitcase makes sense to me
  • @dave.wendy.wander
I'm in total agreement about this style of bag. We use Travelpro Maxlite5 2 wheel bags, which have even more room than this. They're softsided but well built and really light, which is becoming a more important factor.
  • @LucyLovesParis
I’ve been eyeing these for a while. It makes so much more sense. Usually your only choice for hard sides is a clamshell. And there are so many reasons I don’t like them. With this is much easier to access on the go if needed. Easier in a small hotel room, fits on hotel luggage stands, it’s easier to pack bulky items aka souvenirs 😂. I have not run into weight issues yet so I agree the weight might eventually be an issue. I keep hoping other companies start making these and they will get lighter.

That is the BEST travel related item I've yet to see. I began using travel bags that really do make packing/travel easier. I'll try this suitcase. THANK YOU! 👍👍
  • @CandyLV72
I have a similar case without the cup holder, but I LOVE the “lid” design like I had with some samsonite pieces back in the 90s
  • @IamSnowbird
I've always used a soft sided carry on because I like the top open feature. Glad to see it is available with a more sturdy suitcase.
  • @anakemple5698
Great review Ally. Thank you. I really love the top opening concept better. Finally a classic regular suitcase, with a durable outside. Cup holder genius !! The clamshells are a pain to open and close. I hope suitcase companies do come out with a set in this style and durable material. I hope it goes on sale for prime day 😊
  • @icedteamama176
Finally, time to consider a hard shell 😊 will wait for Prime Day in 2 weeks!
  • @pandoravex4791
Oh, bought that bag a few months ago (mine is pink). I love it to bits. My brother was impressed by it and how smooth it rolls. He ended up getting the black and red wheel one. I highly recommend it.
  • @dragonflame9615
its amazing what can fit in a good 20 inch carry on for a tropical destination you could easy pack for almost 2 weeks in a bag like that!
  • @wendymispagel7667
Well look at that, were back to using a trunk for travel. I love it. British Airways lost my heirloom carryon with garment bag in the lid. Rest of the bag was similar to this, but soft sided. Thank you so much for this posting this, it solves my search for a replacement.
