Are fruits good for diabetics? People keep googling that. It's ridiculous. But we can't blame you. The advent of the internet has brought conflicting information to your screens, leaving you baffled about the role of fruit in your diet and diabetes management.

Recently, doctors, experts, and influencers have bombarded us with claims that fruits are detrimental to our health. Much like white table sugar, they assert that fruits can cause weight gain and raise blood glucose levels.

Then you have the plant-based community like us proposing the exact opposite, urging you to reduce dietary fat, eliminate meat and dairy, and embrace fruits. Because incorporating fruits into your diet is an excellent strategy for enhancing metabolic health, promoting weight loss, and sustaining long-term well-being.

With such conflicting perspectives, it becomes crucial to seek clarity. In this case, let science settle the debate.

From 'fruit is just carbs' to 'fruit is worse for you than meat', here's Cyrus to shatter those stubborn myths!

  • Anytime, I crave for sweet, I eat fruits and it’s very satisfying. And sometime, I combine fruits with nuts, it’s even better.
  • Regarding the healthiest way to regain metabolic health and insulin sensitivity, you are a voice crying in the wilderness.

This is GOLD. If you want to understand insulin resistance, Cyrus's explanation at 19:21 (Myth 3: Fruit spikes your blood sugar) is the best I've heard so far. I once was eating sticks of butter a day, afraid of fruit and getting sicker by the day, and now I'm happy, fit, and eat fruit all day! The Mastering Diabetes content and book gave me confirmation and understanding along the way. Thanks guys!

For me, including fruits in my diet squelched cravings for desserts.

I'm eating an apple and am a THIN Type 1 Insulin dependent Diabetic. My Glucose will go up - true. However my glucose will come right back down, and I do feel better with a touch of energy with a good healthy feeling after the Apple or any fruit. I do take it easy with Pineapple, Banana and Mangos, just because these fruits spike my Glucose for a longer period of time. Results of Fruit verses Sugar - No headaches. I do stay low on Carbs of any kind.
  • Most useful message is distinction between simple (processed and refined) carbs Vs complex (natural and whole) carbs. I do Keto and used to fear all carbs but now learning I do not need to.
  • This man’s advice is absolutely correct. Watch Denise Minger’s synopsis of the research in YouTube video called “In defence of low fat”. I tried it. It actually works…really well! The carbs are used perfectly in a low fat diet. It’s the fat that screws up our metabolism. So eat lots of fruit. It’s extremely good for you. It’s alive afterall.
  • Love fruit! I could not feel good without it! I break my fasts (14-20 hours) with fruit. Fruit first! I especially include pomegranate and kiwi. I suffered from insulin resistance my whole life, but now my fasting insulin is a 5 thanks to INTERMITTENT FASTING, and I do not hesitate to start my meals with a fruit plate.

Dr. Ken Berry, MD, has a channel and he is a very strong proponent of the keto diet, and he himself has gone 100% carnivore. He feeds his child bacon as a snack and has nothing good to say about fruits/vegetables. He is very convincing and after watching a few of his videos I decided to try keto, not for weight loss but simply to start eating healthier and improve overall health factors. After two months of off and on constipation along with frequent night time foot/ankle/calf cramps I quit the diet and have gone plant based whole food. I no longer have late night cramps and am VERY regular now. I attribute my former cramping to inadequate intake of potassium and other electrolytes/minerals while doing keto. Another popular youtube influencer is a doctor who has similar keto message and encourages her patients to go all in on keto, with her favorite food item being a can of sardines regularly....Dr. Annette Bosworth, MD.
  • @KraigAdair
Following these people’s advice has been the solution to the specific nature of my diabetes.
  • @pjo1964
Very hard to get a good variety of fruits and vegetables in New York. All the fruits are delivered before they are ripe and have no taste and lower nutrition. Peaches are hard as a rock and rot before they ripen.
  • Bravo!!! I will listen to this again. Master full!! And I’m not diabetic😊
  • @MLK97017
Thank you! We need more info like this. It's very sad to see women eating a few sticks of butter a day saying it's healthy?
  • @Maham_k3

  • Thank you so much for all of your informative videos! I can’t tell you how helpful they are and I feel I can trust you bc of all of your education and actual studies related to this issue. I am so scepter of fruit from years of wrong thinking. I recently got my A1C down to 5.5 from 5.7 through a WFPB diet but I’m struggling w eating fruit because it may go back up!!! Crazy thinking so thanks for all you do to educate us!!
