  • Austrian has the oldest long-haul fleet of any of Europe's national airlines. However some 787s have now arrived and these will in due course add youth to the fleet. In Lufthansa Group hierarchy comparing Austrian with Swiss and Lufthansa mainline it is Swiss, then Lufthansa mainline with Austrian in third place. In fact Austria is better known for its Nightjet trains operated by OEBB which are easily the best in mainland Europe.

How much did you pay to fly Austrian airlines to Newark and does it include check in bag?
  • Wow, the lounge was so bad it wasn't worth any footage? I had a similar surprise with the Wifi on BA in 2022. Had Wifi on an A320ceo ATH-LHR and fully expected Wifi on the 788 LHR-BWR but nope, wifi only on 789s and not 788s. Oops. Like you, I slept a good chunk of the flight. Luckily I had a row of 3 to myself. Your food definitely looked meh for Do & Co. FWIW there's no divider between PE and Y on Mama Lufti either. I haven't flown on OS since they were still flying newer 330s and 340s trans-Atlantic, and the fact that they replaced them with older 772s in the late aughts was frankly a bit of a turnoff. I always felt they were overrated, and your TR did nothing to change my opinion. From what I'm seeing from recent reports, even LH are starting to improve after years of decline.
