Old Fashioned Butterscotch Pie
DO YOU REMEMBER that good old southern cooking?
When I was growing up, my granny was my favorite cook. My mama was also a fantastic cook, but there was just something about being in granny’s kitchen. We all gathered around the table when we went to her house. I have made it easy for you to learn how to cook like my granny and mama did with cooking tutorials for every recipe in our cookbooks. You can see how to order these by visiting us on our website. Oh, and no difficult-to-find or crazy ingredients! Just simple ingredients and delicious food. I am a Southern girl born and raised in Collard Valley in Polk County, Georgia. We went to church on Sunday, school during the week, and the grocery store on Friday, and that was our life: no vacations, no camping, just plain old southern country people.
If you learn to cook like my mama and granny, you will become one of the best Southern cooks. Thank you so much for being a part of this dream of mine.

  • Butterscotch pie was Mother’s favourite! She seldom had it, except looked forward to eating it every year when we went to the cottage. We took my Dad’s aunts to the annual church social in the country where they grew up in the late 1800’s! The last time we went there was in 1966 and my Dad ate 10 pieces of pie!! He had no meat or salads. Just pies! The church ladies couldn’t believe it 😂😂 I am going to try your recipe as I love anything butterscotch. Even my first cat’s name was Butterscotch! 😅. Thanks for sharing! 👏🏻👏🏻🧑🏻‍🦰🇨🇦

Butterscotch pie is one of my dad's favorites, but I had forgotten. Guess I'll be making dad his favorite pie. Thanks, Tammy, for the reminder!

One of my favorite pies right there. I made one once but it didn’t have that good butterscotch flavor. Will have to try this recipe. Tammy’s recipes never fails!

I am not a fan of butterscotch. I guess that's one of those flavors you either like or don't but I am a fan of watching you cook and learning tips and tricks for making things extra good 😊❤
  • Good Evening, Tammy and Chris . The first time I ate butterscotch pie . My Mother-In-law made it . She use white sugar and caramelized it . I lost the recipe . We'll try your recipe .

I have an old cookbook from early 1900’s. No microwaves or pre-made crusts . I made the crust, cooked to butterscotch pudding in an old cast iron skillet. The ingredients seem to be the same, but try using a cast iron skillet. I do use meringue on mine. I may try whipping cream. Thx for sharing this. The cookbook was my granny’s and was given to my mom. When my mom passed, someone else got the cookbook. Possibly even discarded it when cleaning. I’m the only child that used the cookbook other than my granny and mom. I have searched for ten years trying to find the little cookbook. I think it was a ‘little gift from Clabber girl’
