An introductory children's cricket program in Maryland and interviews with baseball fans at a Washington Nationals game help to answer the question.

The best part of cricket (test) is how the ball moves differently with every pitch, how you get really dry wickets and then Go to England and have more grass then a golf course... Americans might not ever get into the sport but for me cricket is the best part of summer

i remember when the USA qualified for the champions trophy in 2004, the whole team were ecpats from India and the west indies, i think the skills in baseball can be tranfered to cricket and vice versa
  • tell American that you can have advertisement after each over & just sit to watch rapid growth of cricket.

America has got very good athletes due to so many races there. I hope cricket gains some popularity there. They will do very well internationally.

I got hooked on cricket in 2008, just in time for the start of the IPL. (Korbo Korbo Jeetbo!) News like this and about the MLC makes me so excited. I was at the first T20 between NZ and SL. Cricket has come so far in America in the last few years. Can't wait to see what comes next!
  • Taught some kids in mt neighborhood how to play it. They liked it, until I bowled spin. They held the bat like they do in baseball. But overall they liked playing it. (Batting at least)
  • I'm from Afghanistan and cricket is my life I started playing cricket in the age 3 when I was in the age of 5 I joined in cricket club now I'm here in England and I'm still playing it one day u will see me in English cricket team.. I also love boxing and I'm boxer as well👍👍👍👌👌👌😙😙
  • America should host India vs Pakistan which will make it popular there 😂

I love the game and I grew up in America. However my family is from Barbados so that is how I learned the game. I hope the game catches on in this country.
  • Real Cricket ( Test Match cricket) will never catch on in the US. All their sports are designed to be short, high intensity games that are easily marketed. I dont think Americans can grasp the fundamentals of Test Match cricket, the slow but riveting nature of it. I certainly don't want the novelty event that is T20 cricket to be the supreme format.

Test cricket: The king(pride) ODI: The queen(beauty) T20: The prince(beauty+courage) Test cricket Captain: respect as commander in chief.
  • Instead of showing kids playing, show the americans the yorkers and the bouncers stuff from the lees, the akhtars and rest of the pack.Show the exhilarating stuff first and then tell them that this could go on for 5 continuous days.

most of them thinking cricket plays in days. yes... but only in test matches. but one day and t 20 is as entertaining as football and baseball.
