Imogene Pass teaches a lesson in preparedness | San Juan Trail Guide

Published 2024-06-06
Imogene Pass is an iconic San Juan off-road trail that takes you from Ouray to Telluride. Often compared with the legendary Black Bear Pass, Imogene has its own cult following of off-roaders and overlanders from all over the world. In this video, we’ll show you what it’s all about including shelf roads, water crossings, sketchy photo opportunities, and incredible Colorado scenery. This guide was completed with a stock Jeep Wrangler TJ, Nissan Xterra, a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JLU, and a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk KL. This is definitely regarded as one of Colorado’s best trails, but is it beginner friendly? We’ll find out!

TrailsOffroad:
This channel is my creative outlet so I don't need to push stuff out to people. I will promote TrailsOffroad because OnX has bought out everyone else (OnX recently offered me a deal 🙄). Watch my OnX vs TrailsOffroad video to see the differences. Do the trial first to make sure they have trails in your area, if so, then use our affiliate code for a big discount.

About Colorado Mallcrawlers:
We are a channel that aims to show incredible off-road trails and our adventures to get through them with stock or your not so typical off-road vehicles. If that sounds like a fun watch, we'd love to have you as a subscriber! The channel membership was created to give our community the best trail info on youtube quicker since trail/overland guides take a while to create. Video Editors are Drew Hunter and Dewie Jones. We're always looking for more offroad video editors as we film a ton of trails (100% of adsense goes to the editor).

Channel Members have access to our filming schedule and I want you to be in the videos! The Black Bear crew gets additional easy to edit videos but offer more up to date info on trails (since guides take a while to put together). The Holy Cross crew gets more say in what videos get edited for the channel (video credits and early looks at Trail Guide edits). youtube.com/channel/UCZNhgEStKFcR_H63ivHKVUg/join

i'm sure you've been told this before but it's a breath of fresh air seeing videos where one can actually think they can use their vehicle to explore these trails, because now the normal is to throw 37s and huge beefy suspension and go on trails. but you really dont get the feeling you can do them having a close to stock vehicle.

I squealed when I saw the 1st gen Xterra! Best Vehicle I have ever owned!

Was on the trail that day and let me tell you running the rest of that trail to Ouray after dark isn't for the faint of heart!!! 23:34 famous for 2 seconds 😂

Those lower control arm bolts are notorious for backing out. I got lucky once and caught mine 4 threads showing during a pretrip. If you have a Toyota product, you should be checking them regularly. Also, put a touch of loctite on them if you ever take them out for mods/repairs.

He’s back! 🎉 I did Imogene last year. It’s by far the most incredible trail I’ve done in Colorado yet.
  • @bruceyyyyy
We ran this last year and it's one of my favorite trails!

Great video! Thank you for not playing the obnoxious music! Lol
  • @forrestwebb6182
Great footage, and great trail info! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully on a future version, you can correct the title from Teluride to Telluride!
  • Another great video! Last year i said the next time i do Immogene i'm going to do it reverse...this just looks so much funner!
  • @BrianVonClick
Your videos are always such a joy to watch. The music that you selected to play in the background was a nice choice. It doesn’t drown out the sounds of the action or rustling/rushing nature, but gives me that cherished Offroad VHS nostalgia. Much appreciated! Keep them coming.

Big fan of your work. Hope to bump into you on some trails this summer. ✌️
  • This will be just the thing to watch when I get home from work tonight.

Did this from the Telluride side last year with @nazgul_renegade. When we got to the summit we had a rain cloud roll into us and we did the Ouray side in the rain/clouds back down.
