I think this is great! Im a 62 year old retired certified welder, and it just galls me that the welding industry in general has been on a totally misleading PR campaign trying to lead young people into the welding field by featuring metal artists and motorcycle builders in their ads and articles! Now I’ve ALWAYS been a Lincoln man, but even ARC magazine that they produce was full of this kind of stuff, and totally overlooked the type of job that the vast majority of welders do! For every metal artist out there, there are hundreds if not thousands of guys welding structural steel, cross country pipelines, general fab and repair, etc, and making these young people believe that they’re going to be making a great living in an air conditioned “studio” making art is an outrage! Setting them up for a short stint in the industry is what they’re actually doing! When reality finds them laying in the mud welding on a broken earthmover or welding structural steel on a 95 degree day with no shade in sight, when they were lured in believing that art or motorcycle fenders in a climate controlled shop would be their destiny, most of them quickly move on to fast food management or something similar! Thanks for attempting to restore reality to an industry that can only be described as false front!

Love all your video's. Never see much on 7024 or as some called it "drag rod." Used it a lot when welding during my apprenticeship many moons ago. Also used it with my, now gone, Lincoln tombstone box. At 73 I still enjoy welding projects and doing repairs, mostly as a hobby. MIG, TIG, STICK, Plasma cutting and full set of torches. TIG is now my favorite and recently welded a SS pipe to SS Harley Rotors for a flag pole.
  • Well done ! What amazes me is how many shops don't have a common stick welder machine ? If I could only pick one machine ..... It would be a stick welder with a big box of 6011 rods . LOL !
  • I'm a factory welder in Dalton ga, i know Matt from cedartown, ga. Matt is a great welder and an even better person. Awesome video

Awesome ! My boss started giving me some projects recently so I'm welding every saturday with 7018. It's challenging for me since the factory where I'm working is filthy hahah ! Thanks for the tips, Louis-Fred Quebec
