Chanting does nothing. Pumping a fist in the air does nothing, nor does shouting people down.

Don't be crying now. These are the people yall voted in and will keep voting for. Based on the outcome of the primary election, sounds like there will be a lot more crying to come.

"...charged with a misdemeanor crime; we're talking someone charged with assault, DUI, theft, sex crimes..." Just an interesting series of words, I thought. So, the alternative to sending criminals to jail is... just let them be criminals? I wonder if people understand that if crime is out of control, gets out of control, or gets more out of control, and is allowed to stay that way, the price of everything else goes up, non-criminal citizens leave (especially those with money), tax revenue goes down and we're left to beg the Fed to bail us out (like they have it to give or would) - you think the budget is bad right now? There's no magic cure for this.

You know, I kinda get both sides here. Seattle is millions of dollars short on their budget. They have a bunch of needs, but the big three are getting SPD's house in order, funding school, and paying their end of the transportation improvements ongoing. Cuts are happening across the board, those cuts are effecting citizens, and those citizens are angry. But how is Seattle gonna get 'tough on crime' if they have no place to put the accused? Some of you hard-asses out there want anyone accused of jaywalking while wearing purple thrown in jail, but the jail is already full. So to get tough on crime Seattle has to send jail inmates to another facility... which costs A LOT of money. This is one of those 'everybody is right' situations where politicians are guaranteed to piss somebody off. You can only spread the butter so thin on a piece of toast, right?

So glad I moved out of Seattle. I'm trying really hard to stay in my home state but things like this assure me that those in charge of the Asylum should be the patients.
