"I wear a freakin' fanny pack!" Hilarious! More people should have that attitude. 👍👍
  • Recently moved to Las Vegas. Right by Nellis air force base. I see the fighter jets fly by all the time. Reminds me of the project. Gosh I wish I could pass the tests to be a pilot.

I live in Canada, so I don't usually carry around my automatics, but I still really like them. The engineering involved in the OTF dual-action is incredible. I like Benchmade, but I'm also critical of their quality-control sometimes. The Infidel looks like a good knife, but the Microtech 'Ultratech' is the standard by which I judge all dual-action OTF's, and the Infidel fails to match it in any respect, and costs over 100$ (150$?) more. D2 is good, but Elmax is better, regardless what people have said about heat-treat issues in the past. Benchmade (and other knife-makers) like D2 because no one will complain about it, its really high-carbon, almost stainless, and it's cheap compared to powder metallurgical steels like Elmax; it's a near-premium steel at a non-premium price. That's great -- assuming the maker will pass those savings on to the customer... something Benchmade could never be accused of doing.  The blade length and profile are almost identical on the double-edge versions of the Ultratech and the Infidel, but the Ultratech has a much sleeker design, a much smaller footprint. It also has the nice glass breaker/skullcrusher. I've never tried the Infidel; I believe the operation is excellent, but it doesn't seem any better (or worse) than the Ultratech. They both use the same kind of aluminum all auto's use. The only aspect of the Infidel I don't like are the exposed slots on the switch mechanism, which seem like they might allow dirt access to the internal components, and look kind of cheap. Otherwise, I really like it; I just don't like it as much as the Ultratech, and don't see anything that justifies the extra 100$. It beats the Ultratech in the name competition, though. Benchmade 'Infidel' sounds way cooler than Microtech 'Ultratech', which is clunky and redundant. But I don't like the name enough to pick up an Infidel instead of a third variation of the Ultratech... or a first 'Scarab'.

Oh to live in Canada. what is so bad about Automatics? Is it just because they look scary? Even though I can't own it Im still going to watch the whole thing. Keep it up Nutn!
