    As a kid, I was more impressed with the X-15 than I was with the Mercury and Gemini flights.

    I read about all this as a teenager. To have this footage to hand at 43 is remarkable.

    This video doesn't mention the day Neil Armstrong lost the LLRV and ejected (safely)... and spent the afternoon back at the office detailing in writing what had happened.
  • This plane is considered by some specialists as the ancestor of Space Shuttles. It is said that data collected during flights was used to design the Orbiters.

    This B-52 that launched the X-15 is parked at Beale Air Force near Marysville in northern California. Many mission marks on this airframe.
