My favorite thing about the Soujia Boy clip is he shows off his JP GG2 copy almost 2 months before the game came out in America.

Guilty Gear 2 can best be described as the Japanese version of Brutal Legend

Daisuke is a mad scientist. How did he manage to morph his franchise into anything he wanted and find success is just mindblowing

to keep the trend of the x -> xx - xrd the sequel should be called “Guilty Gear 22 [subtitle]”

I have friends who don't play fighting games but really like the guilty gear cast and aesthetic. It might be a good time to branch out again.

On the legal troubles, its pretty simple to explain what ArcSys still had the rights to Sammy did not publish the first GG game so the IP & that cast was free game, but characters like Dizzy or Slayer who were added later was Sammy/Sega stuff. Some cast though were still ArcSys through my favorite thing LEGAL LOOPHOLES BABY You see for example That Man physically first appeared in the games in GGX Plus storymode and more heavily in GGXX, but he was first name dropped in GGML & seen earlier in the Ky lightnovel, which also is the first appearance of Raven which is how he is also able to be in this game despite first being properly named & shown only later in GGXX for the gamers. Now there is 1 thing I would like to talk about, Accent Core as it is the real interesting stuff. ArcSys only got the full rights back to GG in 2011, so how did they make new versions of X/XX in 2006 especially when it was NOT published by Sega/Sammy? Thats a mystery baby

3:30 That Guilewinquote origin story is proof people who mock/complain about weird ports to less conventional FGC systems (like handhelds or the Wii here) are idiots.

Fun fact! A lot of people thought XRD copied Blazblue with the Valentines being Murakumo units, and the Backyard being the Boundary. But these concepts were introduced in this game first, technically making Blazblue the one who's doing the copying!

0:33 Completely forgot Guilty Gear collaborated with an apparel company for a second. Sol Drip Jumpscare.

1:27 This is crazy to me. Like can you imagine a Street Fighter installment chucking everyone except Ryu and Ken and filling the roster with OCs donut steals? That's hecking wacky, like that would ever happen, likely story. 😂

This was actually the first Musou-esque game I played. I recall feeling disappointed when I decided to sit down with a real Musou game and realized that you couldn't customize your army's mooks, give them orders or create teams of mooks that could serve as surprisingy dependable units so long as their typing were favorable compared to the opposition and covered each other's weaknesses.

While everyone's begging for Dizzy to come back (again) , here I am, the lone faithful soldier championing for the odd Doctor Paradigm in fighting game form. Also, "Diva" is just the theme for Valentine's final form, her first theme was "The Mask does Not Laugh", which is still a banger in it's own right and a lot of her "DNA" can still be felt in her successors (at least in Xrd). And since early Blazblue took a lot of cues from GG, that means "Sol's dead wife"-type replicas also in some form inspired "Ragna's little sister"-clones. Lastly, I'd love to see the series experiment in this odd formula again, though in all honesty I wouldn't really mind a full on 4-man arena fighter with Overture controls (basically mixing it with Isuka)

Hope the game after Strive is just a straight up RPG

Probably the best video introduction to the game for a Guilty Gear fan looking into Guilty Gear 2. Thanks for making this video as this game was the black sheep of the series for a long time. Newer audiences are definitely doing a good job finding the core gameplay loop which contains a somewhat solid 3d Action game in it. I wish Arc System Works would revisit 3D action someday but at this point the closest we will get to Overture 2 is probably something like Vavarion; which being made by one of the developers of GG2 with similar looking movement and combat but with no RTS mechanics.
