At least you've picked an amazing rifle to roll the dice on 😂

This is your best video by far! Been playing used rifle roulette over 35 years, my favorite kind of gambling, I've had to clean up the barrel crowns on most of my 2nd hand gambles, larger than bore round headed brass slotted screw chucked slow turning in a cordless drill, and 600 grit or finer valve grinding compound on a paper towel plugged muzzle works wonders on factory crowns, got it from an old article in "Rifle" magazine back in the late 80's

I picked up a brand new Winchester model 70 extreme weather, in 264 win mag. Wasn’t my first choice in caliber but I got it for $599 at my local second amendments right before Turners took it over. Now watching this video I want to finally bed it and work some loads up for it. I’ve had it for about two years and haven’t touched it.
  • I love playing used rifle roulette with people who obviously don’t want to take a process based approach to solving their rifles problems. A lot of gems are out there that just need to get polished a little even if you do run into junk here and there. Congratulations on the wonderful new hard use deer rifle.

This was one of the best videos about rifles I have ever seen in 4 years

Good looking rifle, by the way. 7-08 an excellent choice!
  • Would love to see your process of Scope Alignment after mounting: Leveling/Reticule centering and bore-sighting.

I had one of those Winchesters in .30-06. Beautiful rifle. The issue was it had craptastic accuracy. I tried everything and finally gave up and offloaded it. I love Winchester Model 70s, BTW. Thanks for the video.

  • Just started my first game of used rifle roulette, with a tang safety Ruger M77. I’m very excited to began the process, and thank you for guidance and information! Some of the first detailed exposure to a M77 was through your channel as well! Thanks for a great video as always.
  • Thank you for the video. Almost every time I watch one of your videos, I learn something that's going to be useful to me.
  • @finallyfriday.

hey DD , As a mechanic and a shooter the old saying "lets not just throw expensive parts at this thing and see if we fix it" i had to laugh when you opted for the opposite i'm glad you did go with that approach ' that all weather is worth the time and effort you put into it and it made for great content , i have a mod 70 in cm and yet to really give it a work out but if it does have issues these video's are very helpfull , Barry from Australia ,cheers and all the best for 24

Hey you old dog,you are very interesting to listen to. Your experience really shows, and a nice job on the 7mm08. Looks like a really nice gun. Good job, thanks for the info. 👍👍
  • That’s a beautiful rifle. I’ve been Handloading my 7mm08 for quite a while. When Winchester came out with the StaBall 6.5 it turned that cartridge into a rocket. I’m shooting a 140 at 3000fps, 150 nosler at 2910 fps and a 165 Sierra game changer at 2800 all with no pressure. Most groups are under 1”. This is out of a weatherby vanguard with a 24” barrel. Awesome job!!

There is a good chance this rifle would have been sub MOA without bedding and trigger swap. It just needed ammo/bullet weights it agreed with and a good marksman.
