What Linda said is spot on because our strength comes from our diversity, not from privilege.

I appreciate your forthcoming nature, Rick & Linda. I'm sure the decision to put up the video wasn't easy. Such a difficult time for everyone. Knowledge/Education is strength in so many ways. Be well.

Rights aren't rights if they can be taken away from you without due process. A lesson to be remembered and something to be fought against in the strongest possible way should anything similar happen in the future. Thanks for posting this.

Thank you Rick and Linda for making this video. Both my parents and their families and my wife's parents were relocated from L.A. to Rohwer Arkansas. Two families lost everything, the other had great neighbors who took care of their house and returned it to them when they came back to L.A. I've heard many stories about "camp", as my grandfather called it, some good and some not so. Thanks again for sharing, hope to see you on the road someday.

Glad you did post this video, good to see the different perspectives on this place and period in history.

Aloha Rick & Linda. Please know i thought this was a well-presented video (as are your other videos) ... a difficult story to cover in the context of your usual gonagain theme, but great job! Linda, your excellent synopsis is very well consistent with what i also know of Hawaii-born Japanese experiences (my mom was nisei from Maui during WWII; my dad was from NY but was a WWII combat Marine and stayed in Hawaii after the war - - so i'm "hapa", just like your daughters)! Rick, your personal stories were also well-conveyed & appreciated too. Mahalo for this trip/video.

I’m 68 years old and I have never heard of this story thank you for the education

Went to Manzanar camp east of the Sierras. There's a museum and a Japanese-American lady was there answering questions. I got tearful and she came and laid her hand on my shoulder. I told her my family talked about the California relocations "because they looked like the enemy". I said I was sorry if my ancestors agreed with or were part of that, and she said hearing that helps with the healing for all of us. Read "Stubborn Twig" about similar experiences at Hood River, OR.

Based on the last few years, I fear this will happen again.

What a wonderful tribute to the people that went through this horrible situation... I was a neighbor to a Japanese man who was the local Pharmacist in the early 1980"s He told me so many stories of being in a camp in Oregon for over a year and how his family home and business was taken away, he fought hard to buy it back and after becoming a medical doctor he purchased the pharmacy. He showed me photos of family and educated me on so many things about history! I was thrilled to learn the story of Senator Fong of Hawaii, and in 2015 I was So fortunate to tour the Fong Plantation and Botanical gardens with stories and photos shown by his daughter-in-law... Such treasured memories!! Even in the worst times GOOD people emerge and tell the stories to create appreciation!! THANK YOU BOTH for your views on this story and sharing the video!
  • @Go4Corvette
You did the right thing. History is history and should never be forgotten because it is easily repeated and must be passed down from generation to generation. You cannot make these things disappear by tearing down monuments or statues of historical figures like some do today. They are all a reminder of our past good or bad. My father was a WWII Veteran flying 52 missions in B17 bombers he said it was hell, but they did what they believed was right, it bothered him every time he thought about all the bombs they dropped on the civilian population, but the enemy was doing the same to England. He also lost one bother who was with Gen. Patton during the D-Day invasion. Thank you for the video and take care.
  • OUTSTANDING VIDEO!! Thank you both for bringing this to us! HISTORY IS HISTORY good, bad, or indifferent!! So many folks want to change, hide, or destroy completely, OURRRR HISTORY! It is through these stories and reminders some good , and some very sad , that we are able to remember to teach the next generations how NOT TO BECOME what we once allowed ourselves to become! If you know not from whence you came, you are doomed to repeat the same mistakes! Rick, Linda, again… THANK YOU and keep on being….GONAGAIN!😊😊

There’s another such camp at Topaz in west central Utah! I didn’t know about the one by Cody. Thanks for the interesting story. Makes you wonder how many camps existed around the country!
  • Thank you, you did very well in keeping your own emotions in check. Thank you for giving us a history lesson on this difficult time in our history.❤

Rick & Linda, Thank You for sharing this video. Learning about the past bad & good is important. Knowledge IS power.

Courage. This historic incident demonstrates how our ideals crumble under fear. Thanks for reminding us that we are imperfect.
