Used to watch these fantastic aeronautical achievements by NASA on Discovery Channel before this educational channel entered on a flat spin.
  • I’m surprised this video didn’t talk about the F-15 that they added canards to to make it STOL/Hyper maneuverable. Fun fact, the canards used were stabilators (full moving elevators) from an F/A-18 Hornet.

2:29 something really cool that many people probably haven't seen before

God bless you all! Thank you for your commitment to keeping all who take to the air safe as possible!
  • Mmmm look at that beautiful high-tech application of string and tape! Even at the highest levels of physical science, the most basic things can still help so much :D

Man, this stuff was fun to work on. Miss those days.

Ah, 240p, unfortunately we meet again, frustratingly enough during rare X-31 footage that would be great to have at hi-res 4:42
  • This still goes on today but we just can't know yet... All of these led to the F-22 flight control breakthroughs, and think of what testing was done for the NGAD fighter. Especially high AOA without a vertical tail to separate leadjmg edge extensions' vortexes

Very interesting video cheers x31 great aircraft
  • @vn9014
Great fucking video!! Why aren't the super f18 fitted with thrust vectors?
  • @StereoSpace
I wonder how much of that research was used for new aircraft design?
  • @keithbell6104
Wonder what tech the US is working on for the 6 gen ,, i bet it will raise the bar way above anything in the sky now ,, 3D thrust vectoring is US tech 1990 by the way

If you've ever seen an F-22 "Dance" at an airshow... you know where the NASA money went. Well Done NASA!

cool stuff, maybe one day, after my motorsport exploits...
