"Texas Flood (Live at the El Mocambo)" by Stevie Ray Vaughan

Stevie Ray Vaughan was a legendary blues guitarist and singer from Texas, known for his soulful playing and powerful vocals. He rose to fame in the 1980s with hits like "Pride and Joy", "Texas Flood", and "The Sky is Crying", which showcased his incredible guitar skills and deep love for the blues. Vaughan collaborated with many other artists throughout his career, including David Bowie (on the song "Let's Dance"), blues icon B.B. King (on the album "In Session") and his brother Jimmie Vaughan (on their “family Style” album). He was also heavily influenced by other blues legends like Albert King, Freddie King, and Jimi Hendrix, whose playing styles he incorporated into his own unique sound.

[Chorus:]
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Yeah floodwater keep a rollin'
Man it's about to drive poor me insane

whoever's idea was to film and capture this unbelievable moment deserves the nobel prize in humanity.

A full display of a Fender Strat being pushed to its absolute limit.
  • @snoopermeli
This man beautifully shredded the guitar for 9 minutes straight, eyes closed, even behind his back,, all while simultaneously delivering on point vocals. Insane

As an avid guitarist for the better part of 20 years, this video has inspired me to pursue a career in cooking.

If this wasn’t recorded, nobody would believe this level of mastery is possible

The fact that he was one of the greatest guitarists ever really overshadowed his great singing voice

What virtually no one gets is how hard it is to squeeze that much emotion into every note for that many minutes. When I've lost my way musically as a player I come back here.

I have no words.....other than I'm so glad this was filmed because no one would ever believe it....

You dont listen to Stevie, you experience Stevie.

Possibly the best live performance ever. Three guys on a stage; no light show, no lasers, no special effects, no smoke machine, no backup singers. Just pure unadulterated, raw talent, a love of their craft, and a gratitude for those who appreciate what they do.

That guitar ain't plugged into an amp... it's plugged into Stevie's soul.

El Mocambo is a small music venue in Toronto, couldn't have been more than a few hundred people in attendance, as it has been said many times before in the comments, thanks to those who had the foresight of filming this performance so that millions of people could enjoy the brilliance of SRV.

I had just finished a tour in South Korea in Dec. 1986 while in the Army and a real good buddy pick me up from the airport in Louisville KY, and he drove me directly to Nashville TN to see Stevie Ray at the Opry House at what was Opryland back then. Best concert I ever attended, and that place was built for acoustics.

Nothing like cracking a cold beer and cranking this up to 11 after a long stressful day at work. Thank SRV.
