These tips help make my painting process a lot faster and streamlined. I've learned them through years of digital painting so I hope they help you speed up your painting process too!

Also this is my first tutorial type video! I would love to hear what you think of it and what else you would like to hear about!

  • I'm pleasantly surprised by how similar it looks to Photoshop. Nearly all of these are options I use regularly right now. Only the clipping layers (locking alphas) looks a bit more tedious here, but I think I could live with that. Once my Photoshop discount runs out, I think I'll be using Krita.

Another way to avoid the sketch layer from interfering with the R shortcut is to lock it. Then you can still see the sketch, but it will not be selected.
  • I've been using krita for close to 2 years so I've learnt most this stuff over time and trail and error, but that shift + backspace will save me hours of work down the road as I work with selections a lot. thanks a ton :D
  • Ok but can we please appreciate the fact how good that cat looks? <3
  • I'm new to krita and to digital art in general and this really helped a lot. Thank you so much!
  • I've been using krita forever now but I'm still finding new shortcuts, the R shortcut and color picking one will likely be my new fave cause I always have a buttload of layers and its so difficult to grab colors I've got to undo filters and everything this is awesome! also found some new brushes to try so yeehaw
  • Omg, you've no idea how much i wish to find this video sooner . How many hours i would save with that tip to find layers! But better latter them ever! Great video!
  • Regarding to transform tool or crop tool , you dont really need to press Enter button to make the changes i usually press B to get back to my brush and krita still makes these changes. I find it faster.
  • Thank you sooo much for this video!!! I was just going mad about the alpha and inherent alpha locking thing. That and every other tip you mentioned has been soo helpful
  • Ooh the last two tips are going to save me a lot of time! Especially the special colour picking tool, thanks!
  • this is the most useful video I’ve been able to find for krita, and explained everything in such an understandable way - thank you so much
  • Tip number 8 is insanely helpful. Thank you so much for making this video, great tutorial!
  • Thanks so much for the tips! I'm a beginner and this video has helped me so much.
  • What a treasure chest of tips! Thank you so much. I'm going to need to watch and practice all this many times in order to make it habit. There's so much great information on this video!!!
  • @sean4893
Awesome tutorial. Clear explanations for someone like me just starting out. Thanks!
  • Thank you! I'm new to painting and learning it digitally and this helps so much
  • Your explanations were so easy to follow! I have to say I genuinely didn't know any of these tips. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
  • the last tip with color picking tool is so helpful! I always use some multiply layer or overlay and it's so tiring to keep changing it back to normal, color pick it, and then putting it back to multiply so this helps a lot!!!
