Fire crews battle 1,000 acre blaze in Japatul Valley in East San Diego County on Saturday

Firefighters continued battling a fast-moving vegetation fire Sunday that had burned about 1,500 acres by Saturday night in the Japatul Valley area near Alpine. The fire began about 3 p.m.on Saturday off Spirit Trail and Japatul Road and was described early by Cal Fire officials as burning at a dangerous rate of spread and a medium threat to structures.

    Sept 7, 2020 went out to my car this morning and my SUV had full of ashes...and we lived here in Murrieta. Scary thing.

    Who is helping w the animals let the people who want to help the animals coordinate w fire department don't be cruel and just turn animal lovers away they can watch the aninimals till owners have a place for them or after care the wild can be released into safe wilderness
