Sounds like the boys down at jiffy lube putting a drain plug back in
  • @user-zy3vt9ub7h
Their only words to each other at retirement will be “Huh?”
  • @rwisswell
There are more than 200,000 rivets holding the Empire State Building together, and all assembled by men with no fall protection.

You know, drilling holes into stuff is boring, but fastening two pieces of metal together is riveting.

“Grandpa, what did you do for a living?” “Huh? What?”
  • @CiCiLeathercraft
No ear plugs in sight 😅 my ears are ringing just from this video… jk i also have permanent hearing damage much like the guys in the video and I’m only 21😅

My grandmother, in WW2, at the shipbuilding docks in Vancouver, was the person that would toss the red-hot rivet with a pair of tongs, to the riveter. Not many women at the time could do that. Have cool picture of her doing that.

First time I’ve ever seen iron workers do anything without screaming at eachother the entire time.

Great job guys, that plate is now securely attached to itself.

Those young men are bullet proof at that age. Advise from an old guy that was just like you, wear hearing protection, you will thank me in a few short years. I wore mine and can still hear squirrels, deer walking, Turkeys gobbling in the distance, and hear my grand kids asking me questions. I have so many friends who thought they didn’t need it and now they can’t hear any of those things I mentioned. It’s a shame.

Thank goodness the Local 118 still teaches these skills. Amazing what a union can do for your ears. My ears are ringing just from the video.
  • Same way it’s been done for over 100 years. My father was a rivet boy in 1930 in Scotland. Rivets where heated and throw up in stages to those riveting the ship and air hammers used to instal the river his father used an air hammer suspended by wire to take the weight. Before that it was manual hammers.

Ironically, their insurance doesn’t cover hearing aids.

No earpro in sight, just some boys living in the moment 😂
  • Imagine doing that, 150' in the windy Chicago or New York skyline, in the 1940's. Respect to generations of men with liquid iron running through their veins, the agility of cats, the fear of honeybadgers, and loving wives with kids waiting at home. We have lost so much, but not all.

This is a test to see if the young man is strong enough for the job. Congratulations youngster work hard and live life to the fullest. ❤
  • @BrokenRey
Don’t realize how much you miss your hearing till it’s gone.
