Remember that skincare is extremely personal to everybody's skin. What works for me, may not work for you. But I hope my videos give you some good ideas for products, techniques, and Ingredients to try.
Also, I'm obviously not a dermatologist or a doctor, so all opinions on products and anything else I'm presenting, are results and findings from my own experience and research.
And that's why I'm here, to share my research and my findings that go further than what is said on the bottle or Google!
But, everything I present is always a discussion for you to join in with :)
If you have any serious skin concerns, please see a dermatologist/doctor.

Cerave is for "sick" skin. When you have a tummy ache, you usually don't drink hard alcohol and eat spicy food. But when you're feeling better, bring on the chicken wings!

CeraVe products are straightforward with no-nonsense and they are specifically for skincare not cosmetic purposes. There's a very low chance of experiencing irritation from the ingredients. Brands like CeraVe or Vanicream are the safest choices for people to buy. The point is most people are not skincare crazy like us! That's why doctors recommend these kinds of brands. And I think that's a good approach. (Sorry for my bad English)

Iโ€™m a mechanic and the garnier micellar water is so good for when I get thick grease on my hands, arms, faceโ€ฆ I use it liberally because itโ€™s so cheap and it works better than any pumice scrub.

I've been using Garnier's Micellar water on and off for about 8 years now. For the whole face. No stinging no itching or else (and I have dry, sensitive skin). Tried the Bioderma one, but went back to pink Garnier๐Ÿ‘€ It's also wayyy cheaper. The Cerave moisturizing cream has helped me a lot with the eczema on my body.

Coming from a dermatologist point of view - increasingly in this world we have to be very selective about who we endorse or work with , lots of bad brands out there to swerve ..

Lait-Crรจme Concentrรฉ is very popular in France for 2 main reasons I think. 1 - It's a french pharmacy brand and for most french people, skincare = french pharmacy 2 - We don't like our skincare routines to be complicated so a simple inexpensive moisturizer like Lait-Crรจme Concentrรฉ is what people enjoy here. As you said, it's a bit old-school, but that's why french people love it so much. It's classic, simple and it gets the job done

Iโ€™ve been duped into buying crappy skincare products by YouTube โ€œdermatologistsโ€ who never disclose in their videos that the brands send them the products to clearly advertise. They should put AD. I donโ€™t take recommendations anymore from online โ€œdermatologistsโ€masking as influencers. They lost all credibility.

What i really like about cerave is how it is reliably fragrance free. Fragrances bother my eczema & my nose, i dont want my face to smell like things. I don't really use cerave anymore, but it's probably my preferred drugstore cleanser (neutrogena hydroboost wins for drugstore moisturizer & sunscreen).
  • @merjee
I really love Garnier micellar water. It's the only one that doesn't sting my skin or irritate in any way. I've tried Bioderma, but that irritated my skin a lot, I had to give it away. Forever staying with Garnier with this one ๐Ÿ’–

Your voice is so calming and you're the only skincare influencer that doesn't make me insecure about my skin because you're always so dawn to earth, transparent and human. Thank you for your all your content !
  • If there is one thing I learned from watching skincare YTโ€ฆ. Do whatever works for you <3 and see them more so as suggestions. I live by CeraVe & Garnier Micellar Water because itโ€™s the only thing that doesnโ€™t irritate my skin (and yes I tried inkey list, the ordinary, paulaโ€˜s choice & co)

Speaking as a "fifty year old so-and-so" I happen to think Charlotte Tilbury is one of the most over rated brands around. Plus I find her whole advertising schtick really cringy darling! Also, totally agree with you regarding Garnier v Bioderma.
  • @lapolie
I really love Embryolisse because it is so basic? It's just a hydrating creme. It does what it needs to do. Doesn't break me out, works nicely under make up. Over the past couple of years, skin care has become so difficult and overwhelming. So many products with supposedly great active ingredients all break me out. Just give me the boring, basic stuff please!
  • @DermAngelo
What a fun video, James! If I can add my two cents: fragrances like linalool and limonene aren't listed separately on INCI due to irritation concerns, but rather because they are more likely to be allergens. This doesn't necessarily mean that they are more irritating to the common person than other fragrant substances. Essentially it's so those who are allergic to them can avoid that product. That said, I also wouldn't recommend the Magic Cream for sensitized skin ๐Ÿ˜‚
  • @Hierarchia
I feel very out of place being that Cerave is the only cleanser that doesn't irritate my skin and Garnier micellar water is fantastic for sensitive skin in my experience. I can't use anything else. Bums me out though that they have a bad reputation with other people- not that the cult of people loving the products is warranted either. All products have an up and down.
  • @shelbysmith3712
I personally can't do CeraVe either. For some reason, it makes my skin feel like it's burning. It's nice to see the almost cult-like devotion to CeraVe questioned for once.
  • @stephaniem1107
Hahahahaha "Charlotte's Fucking Magic Whatsit Cream" is the best line ever. I remember reading somewhere from an ex-staff member of Charlotte Tilbury that the Charlotte's Magic Cream is the Weleda Skin Food cream that she put in her own containers and rebranded as hers. So now every time I see it I just think of that hahaha.
  • @heatherduke7703
I thought the Cerave every day moisturizer was giving me trouble. I said to my dermatologist, have you ever heard of Cerave breaking people out? And she was like, noooo. So I kept using it for monthsโ€ฆ I finally bit the bullet and switched over to some other moisturizers and low and behold the tiny whiteheads disappearedโ€ฆ I still have regular acne, but those immediate irritation white heads went away

One pro of being in south korea is that you have a better access to illiyoon; their fragrance free ceramide ato line is vegan, which in korean standard is basically cruelty free too. I still like avene trixera nutrifluid balm, bioderma sensibio micellar water, cetaphil moisturizing cream a lot though. Gonna try vaseline advance repair and extra dry skin care lotion too.
