She's not responsible for killing the bird. The other person who threw the rock is.

It's so sad the state dnlr pressured her by litigation to donation. Legal extortion right
  • @ThumbdownMan
Is somebody going to go after the guy that threw the rock, or is he getting off scott free?

Ok, this lady is responsible for this?? So if you hired a contractor to do work on your property and you are out of the country you are responsible and not the contractor who has a license and insurance and suppose to know the laws and regulations. That's why you hire a contractor. This story doesn't make sense?? You are not telling the whole story.

The bird is only part of the story. There were two hives of native Hawaiian bees that are nearly extinct. One of the last places they are found was on this property. Those were also destroyed. From what I was reading they will likely go extinct now. I think that is why she was facing such large fines...not from one protected bird.

so dlnr shook her down for a home over something someone else did. good job state of hawaii, shame.
  • At least she’s trying to right a wrong, I commend her for that, especially since it was at such a great financial loss for her, that’s more than all the Americans (& other foreigners) unlawfully buying land stollen from Hawaiians do.

To make this air time possible, is a waste of energy.

She should donate it to the Hawaiian kingdom!
  • @KhmerKandal
She should donate the property to the indigenous Hawaiian.

It’s unethical to seize peoples property regardless of any notice of violation. Leave people alone !
  • So we can just buy our way out of trouble. Is that what we teach our children
