Episode Notes:

1. Captured on real hardware.

2. This episode was initially massive. 2 weeks' worth of capturing and writing. It was over an hour long. I cut it back because it was just too much. I have a lot saved so there will be new episodes based on the content I cut.

3. There was a 4th Shining game called Shining Wind that was Japanese only.

4. I honestly have mixed feelings about the first 2 Yakuza games. There are things I really enjoy, but there are also things I really dislike.

5. A lot of people love to shit on some of these games but I felt many were nowhere near as bad as some claim. I mean there is a difference between a game that isn't good and one that is claimed to be terrible.

6. If you find yourself in the market for Sega games on the PS2, many of these are quite affordable. Should you run up against something really expensive, typically the Japanese version will be much cheaper.

7. Xbox Episode:
   • Sega on the Microsoft Xbox

Gamecube Episode:
   • Sega on the Nintendo Gamecube

Virtua Fighter 4 Evo was the very last fighter I got really into. No other has really done it for me since then. The tournament where you fight AI based on real players was fantastic
  • @HypnoSwag
Virtua Fighter 4 on this PS2 was a MASTERPIECE! Easily one of the best fighting games on the PS2.

Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution is the reason I bought a ps2. Then Yakuza came out and it became one of my most beloved franchises ever. Those games soothed a little bit my pain over Dreamcast's fall.
  • Man... even to this day- it feels so strange hearing how Sega ended up and basically making games on its competitors machines. I started with the master system then mega drive with all upgrades like mcd,32x, then Saturn and of course dreamcast. Very well loved machines that were being used at least 16 hours a day constantly. Eventually after marrying and f%$*ing up big in my life- i had to sell my collection for peanuts.... sure, i had rare games or demo disks like keio flying squadron. But understand these units were not looked after in terms of mint (or garage queens if we talked in car lingo) condition units played once a year.... no they were my best and only friend in my school years!! They were very temperamental when sold. Half the time never bootin up. Well loved, well worn etc... played till destruction per say. I really could of gotten much more and have deep regret to this day. However i am VERY VERY grateful for emulation. I have my entire collection plus all my favourite arcades running on my phone - with an 8bitdo mini controller hanging from my car interior mirror, with the Bluetooth providing the sound from my car stereo.... Thank god. I am happy with this. I may not have the "physical" copy of whatever in my hand- but instead i have access to all the arcade games there and then and for free,!!! Its amazing. And thank you. And as for Sega trying to survive after the dreamcast .... yeah this hurt and sucked as an avid Sega fan... and sure it was alien almost seeing them publish games this way; but you gotta understand there situation and business forecast. Totally get it... Sega is not the company it used to be. Understand time moves on, and changes everything. Nintendo i believe will be the next in the coming years but they are genuine genius at marketing old technology to use in a more ambiguous setting. Listen- don't worry if my comment seems convoluted... Sega should of survived the dreamcast age because how far ahead they were. Sony capitalised on the 'stupidz' in regards too softwares. I love Sega and today i know they really are not who they were back then...but who does not love an underdog,? BTW- PlayStation 2 versions of dreamcast games are usually far poorer.... but back then if you wanted to play a certain platform but owned another.... this was all you had. Long live emulation. You allowed me to sell my collection in desperation- but still play every single game with just a few clicks. For that i will forever be grateful. Thanks!!

Crazy Taxi, Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Virtua Fighter 4 were my favorite Sega games on PS2.
  • Sega released Virtua Fighter 4 and Yakuza on the PS2. I am and will always be thankful for it.
  • @sittaman
The PS2 must have the most outstanding library ever for any console. It is really easy to pick some hundreds great games on it. The sixth generation was an amazing time. No wonder it is still popular today.

I'd love to hear your take on Sakura Wars: So Long My Love. It was the first western release in the series and a departure from how previous entries in the series. I think it helped lay the foundation for combat in Valkyria Chronicles.
  • It's fine to cover other games from other platforms. Snes drunk doesn't only do Nintendo games. So I look forward to it.
  • @johnellis3383
Oh man, Blood Will Tell was such a great game and full of that special Sega weirdness and charm!
  • @stevesteve0521
The original first two Yakuza games on ps2 were pretty rough when I played them back then, thank goodness we got the Kiwami remakes which are better in every way
  • @alex64gaming
I had no idea there was an altered beast game on ps2
  • @Sandlot1992
I once had Sega Genesis collection before and i still have Sega Classics collection to this very day!
  • @juiceala
You didn’t include Space Channel 5 and Space Channel 5 Part 2, the later was released for the first time outside of Japan as a PS2 exclusive, also Sega Superstars Tennis and the eyetoy Sega Superstars, and Phantasy Star 1&2 recieved remakes on the PS2, there’s also Sonic Gems Collection and Sonic Mega Collection Plus on PS2 as well.
  • @Marcus_K
PS2 sold 150M consoles, whereas the Xbox and GC sold only 20-25M, so the PS2 logically became Sega's main platform after the DC. They published tons of PS2 games between 2001-08. Lots of new games and early on many Dreamcast ports and even Saturn ports. Still, even the GC received must-play Sega exclusives like F-Zero GX, Monkey Ball and Beach Spikers, so a Sega fan should own a PS2, Xbox and a GC for the full post-Dreamcast Sega experience.

I'm a huge Sega fan. And, I'm currently building a Sega game collection for the PS2 and original Xbox. So, this video is incredibly helpful. Thank you very much for making it.
  • @oscarzxn4067
Things have really changed for Yakuza it seems, the games now have been selling like hot cakes in the west while in Japan the relatively poor sales of PlayStation consoles in the last few years while not releasing any games of the series on the Switch, not even the old ones, have affected it there.
  • I really appreciate the time and attention you put into these videos. I watch these whenever I get the chance and I've binged some of your older videos in the past. Thank you for sharing this content with us, dude. I hope and wish for good health for you and your family!

I love how Altered Beast comes next to explain after Sonic Unleashed, it's a Speaking Of Werewolf moment
