I like that your mom got rid of sooo much and not trying to hang on to everything. Great job ladies!!
  • Your mom must be so relieved to have all this cleared out. Thank you for helping her do something she clearly has never been able to do herself.

So satisfying to see her letting go of so much. She’ll never miss what she didn’t know she had or used. This is her first pass through and she’ll probably let go of more in the future 😊

Kitties are the supurrvisors! They're most likely curious about a cabinet not yet explored! 💖🐱💖🐱

I'm so impressed with your gentle and graceful approach to helping your Mom and Dad. Shame never works, anger is a waste, and regret just stalls progress. Your methodical approach was perfect and I love the family humor mixed in with the tasks. You definitely have a calling for this kind of work. I'm so glad your parents are ready to move on with their stuff. Congratulations to everyone for getting this off the ground!

I am in the same situation. We've lived in this house since 1989. My parents have retired to another state and have left me with the house - and 40 years worth of stuff! I was doing really well decluttering, but I got burned out. Watching you do the same thing has inspired me to start working on it again! My suggestion for the utensil drawers is expandable drawer dividers, used the long way. That way you can group the spatulas, knives, tongs, serving spoons, etc. It's made putting things away SO much easier for me!

A big thank you to your mom & dad for sharing this process with us. You're a sweet daughter to help your parents with this chore. My husband spent 21 years in the military so we had to declutter every 3 to 6 years (thank goodness) . My grandparents lived in the same house from 1950 to 1988. They were from the depression era and would NOT let us grandkids help with getting rid of anything 😅. It was a nightmare for my mom when they passed. Goid thinking of your parents to start now!😊😊

I love how willing your mom was to let so much go. I am sure it feels like she can breathe easier in that space now that it's not packed full.
  • Great job for letting it all go. If you can’t get the shelf clean you can line them with contact paper.

I love this series! Your Mother is so lucky to have your help. Great job!

In the rural area where I live two families have had their houses burn down in the last 18 months. So being able to find all of the treasures that your parents put by the street would be wonderful!

I loved this The real life the real home of a family and not some “Pinterest worthy crap” ❤❤
  • I think the sweetest thing about this 2 part series is that your Mom protected you; imagine this lady armed with printouts of those messages going to the Principal/ Teacher ready to fight for you. So wholesome.

I LOVE your moms old school mixing and baking bowls. It reminds me of the stuff my parents used to have when I was growing up. You just can't find good quality like that anymore, or at least not easily!
  • You two were a great team. You removed every shelf and cabinet, handed things to your mom, decisions were made, and items sorted for keep, trash, or donate. And of course the kitties supervised. On cleaning the lazy Susans, Dawn Powerwash and a scrubby sponge will clean all that. Let the Dawn Powerwash sit for a bit.

You’re such a nice daughter, to come help your mom.ive tried to hire someone and they were way to expensive, couldn’t afford them. Don’t have any friends who could help. I do have one friend who has offered but it’s such a mess, and I’m too embarrassed ,I can’t do much cause I’m disabled, not able to stand , or bend just can’t do much of anything. I thought I was making progress, but I made a bigger mess. She’s so lucky to have you. You did wonderful job. ♥️♥️👍👍🙏🏽🙏🏽
