Please read: You may watch this video and roll your eyes thinking "of course it's only 5 minutes, your house is already clean".... I hear you, but I wanted to show you the MAGIC of hardcore decluttering, organizing and the daily stuff (laundry and dishes) - this is the result - a home that always looks clean and tidy and you DON'T have to "clean" before you can "clean". It took me a while to get to this point...My house was a WRECK for a long time. It never stayed clean for more than a few minutes. I've been there and I know how hard you are working... I just want to show you a way out. This video shows you the end goal - effortlessly clean. I tidy and clean way LESS now than when my home was messy. I've found shortcuts and systems, and I want to share all of them with you. You CAN have a clean and tidy home without cleaning and tidying all the time, but you gotta invest some time and effort in major decluttering and organizing to get there. I have a FREE 30-Day Decluttering Challenge starting August 1st here on YouTube. I'll show you exactly how to take your home from chronically messy to constantly tidy...and it won't cost you anything except 15 minutes a day (above the time spent on dishes and laundry). You deserve this.
  • I’m sorry you got so much backlash from that podcast. If you declutter to the point that everything is manageable, clean as you go (dishes), do 5 minute tidy ups and spot clean, this can happen. It’s possible. Thank you for all you do.
  • I agree with most of the other comments. Neat and uncluttered is the easy way to go. Plus, I came to the conclusion awhile back that I would rather have a 90% clean house about 100% of the time instead of a 100% spotless house every once in a while.

Seeing all those negative comments made me think of this quote: “People who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt those who are doing it” ― Bernard Shaw. While I have way too much clutter to be there right now, I once was. I discovered it was so much easier to maintain cleanliness in a home than wait until things are dirty to clean. My house stayed company ready with just a 10 to 15 minute quick clean each day. Now to get back to that.
  • I loved this. I am going to replay everytime I need to clean. So I had 20 minutes before I needed to leave the house. I unloaded the dishwasher, loaded the dishwasher, and cleaned the kitchen in 5 minutes and put in a load of laundry. Then I had time to sit down and finish my coffee with husband before I left the house. This was great.

You've changed me from a weekend warrior cleaning person to a daily small tidy cleaning bc its actually less work. Cas, you have really changed our lives here. Appreciate you
  • I’m sorry some people don’t understand that once you declutter and good organized system will save people time and energy cleaning that you only need 5 minutes to clean. You never said it was a deep clean. I think you’re an amazing person. Have a great week.
  • @missmeakat
I'm disabled with very limited energy, this has helped massively! I always think of cleaning as a big task you have to do perfectly, but 5 minutes imperfectly is actually doable for me. Thank you!

My tips are: don't leave a room without leaving it neat and tidy for when you walk back in, so you will smile at it. Do a quick clean and tidy and empty wastebaskets at night after dinner dishes, before you get tired. Always put everything away after you use it. Don't leave a room ever without doing a quick survey. Everybody can do this. Nothing on the floor ever! A place for everything and everything in its own little place. Remind me. I get busy and forget too! LOL!

I was waiting for the end of that story to be "and thats how i met your father." Cas is without a doubt the best and most entertaining decluttering expert on the youtubes.
  • I look forward to every Clutterbug video. They always speak to me.
  • @ozbolder
I used to be a house keeper and the way we were trained was similar to this. Basic principles don’t clean what’s not dirty. Work from top to bottom, back to front and work in one direction around the room. (Edit for grammar)
  • @lgraps
Cas, I love that you took the negative feedback from the podcast seriously, addressed it straight on and with respect for the commenters, and then gathered real data to prove your point both to them and to yourself. Your response has been truly professional, and it's impressed me.

I hate when people complain. Not trying to be mean but just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean she can’t. She is well organized and she has a routine. That’s what it takes her no time. Most of the things she cleans are part of a routine. So it’s not hard to get through it fast. I started a routine and it works great. So now when I have to clean it goes fast. Not as fast as her yet but I’m getting there. My children are now as of a month ago have moved out so I have clutter from cleaning out rooms and closets and my attic. But when I stick to my routine it is so much easier to get through the clutter. It’s so satisfying cleaning out a room, closet or attic. Getting rid of everything. So many years of junk. I love this channel. She is good and has helped me tremendously. 🎉
  • Oh no, please don't listen to all that negative noise! I've been a silent viewer for years and let me tell you, I am HERE for your no nonsense, realistic life advice! Except for bathroom and kitchen, I follow the "dirt you can't see is what you call clean" guideline. Don't let them haters get you down. The way you explained it makes perfect sense to me and also, it puts cleaning the house into a way more optimistic and less frightening experience to me than someone telling me they have to clean for hours on end! Also, I LOVED your lazy garden video and already got started implementing your tips! Please more "lazy people" content so that I have more time that I don't have to spend cleaning ❤😂
  • One of my favourite videos of yours! This truly shows how having too much clutter makes life harder! Love the lava surface thinking! I'm so glad you did this video. It's not about perfection, it's about consistency and staying on top of it a little each day.

“Cleaning before it looks dirty” love this!! 💙
  • @Snitzler4710
Your golden plan: You clean as you go, perform evening resets and then just maintain. Great job!! I do the same and I love it.
  • You are showing how easy cleaning can be be if we put things back in their place.
  • @Becca8Becca
Tip for swiffer dusters. You can get the dollar store microfiber mitt for cars and put them on the wand. You roll the excess around the swiffer and secure with 1-2 rubber bands. Makes a quick and cheap reusable duster head.
