THIS STORY:

Kate Townsend was a brothel madam during the late nineteenth century in the district of New Orleans that was later to become Storyville. This district became possibly the best known area for prostitution in the nation. Her luxurious brothel on Basin Street was the first of a number of upmarket brothels that the street became famed for.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...

This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

New Orleans is such a city of contrasts. There’s so much unique culture and beauty, yet there’s also so much corruption and violence (past and present).

Great story as always Ron. I love your history lessons they are so interesting. Sounds like politicians back then are just like today’s politicians. Nice to know some things never change. 😂🤣

Wow, Kate was a piece of work. Those kinds of places never seemed to bring anything but trouble but I'm not sure what was wrong with Ed hanging around so long well his life was being threatened. Those were some wild days. I can't believe how the police handled that murder. Like the Keystone cops lol. Ron, you never cease to amaze me at your storytelling skills. I don't know how you keep all of these names, dates, and places straight. Nobody does it like you can. So, RIP to all involved including the abandoned twins wherever they may be ❤💐
  • @Pellegrineanita

One of your best Ron. Great story and great job retelling of Kate. RIP Kate. I wonder if her condition of getting obsessed with Eck was from drug use or STD.
  • @zorabryce5493
