Joe's Top 5 EDC Fixed Blades for self defense!

I was taught the basic's of using a knife for self defense, by a Retired Marine. The things he stressed where. In a knife fight both parties will get cut up. The winner is the one who walks out of the ER. Next, Reach is every thing. If your knife is longer then the one your opponent has, you stand a better chance. Lastly, always go for the slashing attack. A point or thrusting attack, is easier to block, and will often bring you in to close to the one your are dealing with. These days, I carry the Cold Steel Espada XL, with G10 handles. It has a 7.5 inch blade, and yes when folded it does fit into my pocket. The handle is long enough so you can have at least three grip options. I've never had a problem, and I hope I never do. But if I do, I will be ready. If I where to use a fixed blade, it would by my Military Khukuri, with a 10 inch blade.

Amtac blades and half face are the best

I just ordered the Revere kit and am excited to receive it and start training with it. Is a bummer that the practice blade was not available!

My number 1 is similar to yours. Half face Humint. I find the handle to be a better fit. But someone can’t go wrong with either.

Thats some nice blades and designs. I love a g10 or micarta handle and a stacked leather handle. In my daily carry gear I try to balance between best performing gear that isn't so expensive that i need a small loan to afford. And it needs to be something that I am prepared to lose to the evidence locker until the investigation clears me. Sometimes you don't get them back. I like tops brand also. They are a good steel that is easily maintained and holds an edge pretty well. They have nice belt clips that rotate and hold very well.

My belt edc shtf knife is the cold steel srk, good length and is light weight' good for self defense and survival. My second choice is my strongarm. ✝️

What size gloves do you wear? I’ve always had concerns that the stroup knives handles where too small for my mits and don’t want to pay $200 to find out

MKC is now making a defense blade, the war goat. Too bad they're charging more than Toor, T Kell, RMJ and other more notable makers.

Often personal preferences dictate blade length and styles for EDC. I have been in one self-defense encounter where I had the knife, and one of the bad guys had the gun. I learned a great deal. Good video and real nice knives. Enjoyed it here.
