Doped Manzano EXPOSES Doping in Cycling Today

Publicado 2024-03-27
The doped Jesus Manzano was the cyclist who, by confessing his doping in 2004 in exchange for money in a Spanish newspaper, was able to uncover the Operación Puerto in which we saw how athletes like Jan Ullrich, Alejandro Valverde, Joseba Beloki or Ivan Basso, all of Lance Armstrong's rival cyclists in the EPOca, were totally doped up to the eyebrows. However, 20 years later he wanted to give his opinion on cycling today and monsters like Wout Van Aert Fall, Mathieu Van der Poel Tour of Flanders 2024, Tadej Pogacar or Jonas Vingegaard 2024. Manzano exposes them all.

  • Manzano's words are Manzano's words. It does not mean that we agree, since we are in favor of clean cycling and it is EVIDENT that we are in the cleanest moment of cycling, without doping positives and with that great increase in the level of genetics, nutrition and materials, not to mention marginal gains.

Having been duped by my "heroes" Pantani / Ullrich / Armstrong during my more gullible younger years, I no longer believe in the performances of today's cyclists. However, I still enjoy watching pro cycling - I just see it as a spectacle, a circus, a bit of fun not to be taken seriously. Glad to have found my home here amongst the other cynics 👍🤣
  • Brilliant. As always you nail the "mentalidad" of various people here in Spain. I was a former Sports Journo in Ireland and live in the Poblenou district of Barcelona. Never have I experienced such a culture at ease with doping (esp in cycling) look at the recent bike race in Valencia when the testers showed up only 36 decided to finish, that gives you an idea of how deep it goes. My journalism was aimed at triathlon and a certain group of people had it out for me after an article that was about to be published (never was) so it shows you certain athletes, coaches, teams can still reach in and omerta those that speak out, like Manzano, whom I feel for. Amazing how in other countries some are rehabilitated (Miller) and yet go further south and you're ostracised completely (Italy/Spain)
  • Just when I thought Cycling Highlights hit the biggest bomb ....WOW KABOOM .... Cycling Highlights.....Well done AGAIN ! .... and thanks for catching me(us) up on the days of doping in Cycling
  • Remember give us a Super Thanks if you're happy with our content! Thank you very much guys!
  • People who weren't following cycling back in those top fuel doping days don't have the vivid memory of all those dopers getting outed for several years in a row.

Yes, the rabiit-hole goes deeper than the publics' perceptions can handle. That even a Spanish Minister is dismissed, shows the reach of the Money that controls all Pro sports. === You play the Rotten Game, collect your money and Shut Up ! It will never change. As poor Manzano found out.

Another retrospective marvel… thank you. I chuckled every time you said the name Vicente Belda Vicedo 😀 2003 was probably my peak interest in the world of road cycling an Ulrich fan (what was I thinking…??? if only he could beat that nasty Lance) I was oblivious to the Mazano sideshow in the circus of professional road cycling. Keep reminding us of past stories your work is important to ensure the current performances do not go to our heads. The cycling world is a seedy little business and it appears to be particularly whiffy in Spain… unless it’s their terrible drainage over there??
  • Manzano should make a comeback, at VISMA. I think he and Tratnik are about the same age. So it wasn't JUMBO JUICE after all, it was VISMA Vitamins, guaranteed to turn any decent rider into a world beater (Laporte, Tratnik, now the great Jorgeson)

Sport in general, cycling more than any other is, will never been clean. It's about money, profit, which super human performance helps sell. They really seem to be pushing it harder this year, which means bigger abuse 😔

Everyone seems to hate a whistleblower..Or more accurately, it doesn't pay to be a whistleblower. That guy could have had a long career, with money, endorsements, and a better house. As a whistleblower, you sit on a lofty perch, but in the end, you only hurt yourself the most.
  • And this video was made before all the 2024 Monument speed records were broken.

We often overlook that in the period leading up to The Franco dictatorship Spain was essentially a third world country within the continent of Europe. Post General Franco Spains fragile ego has sought refuge in its sporting successes - successes gained at any cost. It’s national identity entwined with sporting success. There was never a chance that Operacion Puerto would ever amount to anything because to reveal the horrifying truth would strip away everything that “brand Spain” had done to shed its image of the poor man of Europe.
