Just tell the TRUTH: She is not "The Godmother of Rock’n’Roll ". SHE CREATED Rock’n’Roll.

Before Chuck Berry, Elvis and certainly long before the Beatles, this genius woman is the true Mother of Rock and Roll! She deserves more attention.
  • In 1945my Grandmother would sit in her rocking chair on the porch and have church listening to Sister Rosetta Thorpe by radio. I was 5years old.now I am 84

She is the Mother, the CREATOR and ORIGINATOR of rock and roll.

She is finally in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 2018. As far as I'm concerned, she's the mother of Rock.
  • Fair play to the Brits for capturing her performances on celluloid. The true queen of Rock’n’roll. A very important historical document of an amazing woman.
  • I'm 64 in a few days (2023), been in music all of my life, played in a few bands, have a huge collection of vinyl, grew up in NYC (Harlem and the Bronx), and first heard of the good Sister Rosetta Tharpe 10 min. ago. D' shame! How many others have we missed...

I am having a difficult time accepting the fact that I am 56, in 2022, and THIS is the FIRST I'm hearing of this overwhelmingly blessed with talent sister..
  • She's amazing ! She deserves to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame !
  • Nobody played a electric guitar like she did back in those Days, way ahead of her time!

Why hasn’t a movie been made about this genius 🤔
  • I'm a mature black woman, just learning to play guitar with a dream to be a talented rcok guitarist. I've never heard about Sister Rosetta Tharpe until I stumbled upon this video just yesterday! I'm so amazed and so enouraged by her. I just can't believe this information has been so suppressed. Yes, it's time the world knows all about her! She deserves so much credit for her comtribution to the history of Rock! Incredible!
  • I was at that concert at the Dome, Brighton in 1957, I was 16. She brought the crowd to their feet. Enjoyable, informative and sad documentary, thankyou.

I wish more people in the rock and roll business would acknowledge her! RIP sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Frankly, I'm not surprised by the number of people on this page saying, "I never heard of her." Hence, the need for Black History Month.
  • I initially thought she sounded like Chuck Berry....Now I know Chuck sounded like her. She is awesome!

Jocelyn Carter: This was a great story. Rosetta was very brave, and smart. She took chances. I learned a lot just by listening to her story. Rest in peace, Rosetta, rest.
