I love that they're rehearsing one of the most serious scenes in the play and making it hilarious. XDD

Good technique... The last show I did, the director had us do a physical activity together while running threw our lines. Me and my "line partner" did it while jogging ever few days.. It makes your brain move when you exercise or doing something that gets you breathing.

No I think you're right actually. It's an acting technique to help your fellow actors remember when your line is over and theirs begins. And the whole emotion/intensity thing like you said. I like this technique a lot, I'm going to bring it up in the next show that I do.

I was wondering about that as well! Seems like it serves as a visual & tangible representation of the give and take between the actors in the scene. The vocal delivery often seemed to match or be intensified by the physical delivery of the ball, and I would imagine that in a scene like this, where they don't even look at each other onstage, it would be a helpful exercise. But then, I'm probably reading too much into it; they were probably just having fun...Still, it's something to think about.
