Conflicted: BRUTALLY honest concise review paradoxically my favorite ride courtesy the E-rides setup

Published 2024-03-02
Thanks for stopping by guys, as you all know the Inmotion v14 is actually my favorite wheel of all time.

But a series of missteps in the release of the v14 has lead to what is ultimately become a nightmare for many users

Inmotion has not publicly acknowledged the gross number of issues that have been reported by testers like myself, nor have have they provided a path to resolution for current users

We are not being given open and honest communication about the issues plaguing this wheel so we can avoid further damaging this wheel

Ultimately, it is being handled in the worst way imaginable

And that is coming from the person who wrote the theme song for the company.

Seriously guys no one loves this company more than me I promise you- but at this point, it feels like those of us with good faith are in love with the legacy of a company whose direction has ultimately shifted away from the direction and products we fell in love with.

Perhaps in the future decisions can be made to take actions that are meaningful for the community, in order to keep people safe and protect the investments that they have.

Some people buy this wheel and expect to take it to an event, and if they have already invested in an Airbnb taken the time off of work and committed with friends, only to have a wheel that is not functional with no answers from the company is unacceptable.

-

Shirley, Rachel and Mark are the best assets that Inmotion still has - as a company, they should model their customer service after the way that Shirley takes care of people.

-

I hope that the investors are happy with their stock, because the customers who levy the value of that stock are getting increasingly displeased.

I love Inmotion, but I can’t lie to myself anymore about the lack of transparency and clear communication with people who support the products that they don’t even support themselves.

Sincerely

Johnny go Vroom

I'm feeling the same. A potentially great wheel hampered by poor communication. Even great new features or important fixes, they are keeping suppressed, which feels like suicide. I'm only finding out things through word of mouth or my retailer.

The cost of the v14 is $5400 up in Sydney,Australia. No communication from the company with support will stop people from spending a fortune on these wheels.
  • @Platypus-Dreams
That's disappointing. Guess I'll wait and see before getting the V14

A year ago, I met a guy in Nevada City, California who told me to add you on Facebook. I didn't know that you would become one of my favorite wheel youtubers!

This video is a banger! Thank you so much for that! I still want one in its complete form though! Thank you for your excellent review! That was a wicked slow mo shot of the slide btw! Peace my man!

The v13, the best wheel ever made in my opinion, was a business failure. This was the first wheel by their new leadership and their priorities are showing.

Well said, bro. I appreciate your honesty. The initial batch wheels are exactly as you describe. On the next batches, the suspension works much better, no sticking, but the little occasional vibration in "S" mode is still there.

In a perfect world, the V14 would replace the stanchions with a hydraulic shock making this wheel dual-suspension with dual tuning zones for optimal on-road/off-road transitions. Stanchions are simply unserious design... better than KS's roller-sliders but both are still effectively features planned to become obsolescent. I'll keep buying (and fixing) used wheels until these companies get more serious about their long-term viability and repair-ability. My impression is that we'll see a quality VESC wheel before we see a quality 20-year lifespan EUC.

I have to agree on all this. I don't normally preorder anything, but I took a chance on the V14 because people told me inmotion support is good. I only got a few short rides before a hall sensor error put a stop to that. Dealing with support was ok at first, but when it came time to ship out a new motor communication collapsed. I'm not sure if it's on the way or not. It's a well designed wheel that's been let down by the factory and follow up service. I'm still hoping to muddle through the issues and get the wheel I want. About that stuttering issue, I get it pretty bad about the time when the hall sensor warning is flagged. It might be related. I wonder if the hall sensors haven't been positioned properly, or they shift over time.

Yikes. I keep going back and forth on completing my V14 pre-order. This makes me want to wait to see what’s released this year. I saw two EUC riders yesterday and wanted to join them 😊.
  • @yura8196
Johnny, do you use the acceleration/break assist in the app for v14? If yes then on which settings? Thanks
  • @thugis07
Honestly now I’m thinking about paying the extra 1000$ for the Lynx since I’m just been hearing negative things about the v14
  • 👍 I really want to like this wheel, but with Inmotion falling short on the comms side, I will probably go Begode extreme or Veteran Patton. I see that Ewheels has batch 5 upgraded Patton with 50s cells. Cheers
  • @jordanb722
Unrelated to the video, but you have insane forward ankle flexibility (notice it when you ride seated) - have you always had that? Would make riding seated a hell of a lot easier XD.
  • @SaiyanEuc
Man my biggest complaint about my v12 is the firmware, its not very predictable and does some weird stuff sometimes. Randomly wont connect to my phone, wierd tilts like the imu is confused..
  • I assume that the test wheel is batch 1 one unit. I wonder if the second batch with Samsung batteries will be more trustworthy🤔
  • @MikeHawksSmall
I have that same stutter issue and get no help from inmotion about it 🤬
