  • Did anyone notice that he was trying to hold back tears the entire performance? Such a powerful song.
  • “A heart that’s broken is a heart that’s been loves” there has never been a truer sentence 🥺💗
  • He once said his only ambition is to leave this world as a good person.. Doesn't need to care what haters speak about him. one of the best music artists ever born.

I'm 63 years old. My parents and grandparents are long gone. Still I have a real difficult time getting through this song, no matter how many times I've heard it.
  • Can we please talk about the fact the his guitar let him feel protected and confident and he just came here without one and holding tears? That is a brave man.
  • Ed Sheeran just has the gift of writing songs that are so relatable to so many people. The best thing about him is that fame didn’t change him and he’s still the humble guy he was before he was famous.

  • We played this for our mother when she passed away. We looked at songs to play for her service and I ran across this song. I had never heard it before. Pretty much took me to my knee’s at 60 years old. I was asked to speak at her funeral and I added his words ( a heart that’s been broke is a heart that’s been loved ) to my speech about mom. After I spoke this song was played, our minister was sitting directly in front of me. He had never heard the song before and I could see him listening to the words. By the last chorus he was saying the words to the song. When the funeral was over he came and talked to me about what I had said and what a wonderful song. I must have listened to it a 100 times before her funeral with the thought that if I heard it enough it wouldn’t hit me so hard. I was wrong…. 10 months later and it still hits me. What a song and what a performer…. Simply the best!
  • It's very touching for me. He had nothing. And now? Do you see this crowd? It's hard to believe. From the street to the big stage. Now he has love, fame and money. He can do whatever he wants. But he is still the same funny guy who played on the street in the socks. Ed proved that dreams come true and that we should never give up. I wish him all the best. Edit: He wasn't homeless and I was wrong. Sorry for my mistake. ;) But I still admire him a lot.
  • My mother died last night. This song really helped me let stuff out
  • "No one notices your tears. No one notices your pain. No one notices your sadness. But they all notice your mistakes.”

This song was never meant to be a hit/single and I love that. It's incredibly personal and something we, as fans and humans, can, unfortunately, relate to. Brilliant and beautiful piece of music, Ed. Thank you
  • My mother’s mother died last night. This song helped me come to terms as she lay on her deathbed when we came home from the hospital.
  • Beautiful Tribute 🕊️ (The song is actually about Ed's grandmother and is written from the point of view of his mum. ) ↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠ Ed told... “She was one of the nicest women you’d ever meet and she was my mom’s mom. It was written for my mom’s point of view; it was choosing loads of specific things and then just finishing it as a song.” “My grandmother was very ill during the time I was making the record and passed away at the end of me making the record so we wrote this song as a tribute and just left it on. ↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠↠ Thank you Ed for sharing this sensitive song....!
  • I took the supermarket flowers from the windowsill Threw the day old tea from the cup Packed up the photo album Matthew had made Memories of a life that’s been loved Took the get well soon cards and stuffed animals Poured the old ginger beer down the sink Dad always told me don’t you cry when you’re down But mum there’s a tear every time that I blink Oh I’m in pieces it’s tearing me up but I know A heart that’s broke is a heart that’s been loved So I’ll sing Hallelujah, you were an angel in the shape of my mum When I fell down you’d be there holding me up Spread your wings as you go And when God takes you back He’ll say Hallelujah, you’re home I fluffed the pillows, made the beds, stacked the chairs up Folded your nightgowns neatly in a case John said he’d drive, then put his hand on my cheek And wiped a tear from the side of my face I hope that I see the world as you did cause I know A life with love is a life that’s been lived So I’ll sing Hallelujah, you were an angel in the shape of my mum When I fell down you’d be there holding me up Spread your wings as you go, when God takes you back He’ll say Hallelujah, you’re home Hallelujah, you were an angel in the shape of my mum You got to see the person that I have become Spread your wings and I know That when God took you back, he said Hallelujah you’re home
  • @LunaLupus2005
This is a timeless song for me. Applies to all who have lost someone, whether to disease, mental health, or other.
  • I remember listening to this song for the first time.. fuck, I cried my eyes out thinking about my mom. I'm so afraid of the idea of her not here by my side. I feel like she's the only person who truly cares about me in this world.
  • So glad he performed this instead of his usual awards ceremony song Shape of You
  • Hate how people scream aloud. Why can't they stand, shut up and enjoy this man's heart.
  • The tears are running down my cheeks. It's been four years now since I lost my Mom and this encompasses all of my feelings. Ed, you have such a gift...don't ever stop, you touch my heart.
