Vintage Game Consoles Found in The DUMP! Let's Try to Fix Them - One of my viewers found old PlayStation and Sega Genesis game consoles at the city dump so he sent them to me to see if I could fix them. One of them won't play a game and the other won't start up at all so this should be fun!

For those unaware, Steve is now in remission! So happy to see the treatment has been a success (not that I had any doubt you'd beat cancer's butt!) Much love to you and the family, Steve! God Bless

You started cleaning the PS1, and i wondered why there was still a spot on the lid. Turned out my screen was just dirty 😂

So happy to hear you are in remission Steve! The strength it takes to go through chemo and still keep up with the channel is amazing

This video reminded the time when I found an SNES in my building's dumpster room. It was sitting in a box with a few games. All cables and one controler were there. Was a bit dirty but working just fine. Still have it.
  • I'm so glad you got them working! Was worried I sent ya actual junk, lol.
  • @user-kr8tp3ko8z
that's just beyond me that people throw things that need little to no fixes to get them in perfectly working condition
  • I can't believe you even have the energy to do these videos! I know how hard it was on my mom when she had cancer... and thankfully she has been in remission for over 12 years now. I loved reading that you are also in remission. Glad everything is working out the best it can, and I just wanted to say there is plenty of life to be lived after treatment. F--- cancer!

Retro consoles are.... soothing to me? They're from a time when manufacturers didn't go out of their way to make repairs harder than necessary. Just feels weirdly "wholesome".

I really appreciate that you are a "spray the cloth" person instead of "spray the device then wipe."

Hey Steve, long time watcher, the reason I even know how to take apart consoles and ifixit advocator. I really want to thank you for not giving up and still filming despite the circumstances. A stranger just thanking you and telling to keep up the good work.

Your T-shirt Steve “I paused my repair to be here” Glad you are here Steve 👍 many help tutorials to come 🎉🎉🎉

that power port solder issue is extremely common on Model 2 Genesis, i was able to get multiple for $5 each several years ago and they all had that exact problem, my guess is the port isn't well braced by the shell so if the console is moved around or stored with the power cord left in it may crack the solder joint like you found.

@tronicsfix - Steve, i'm so glad to hear about the remission! I am very glad that you are beating it! sending prayers and thoughts my friend to you and your family. i lost my dad a year ago to the cancer. i'm happy to see you beat it, and absolutely thrilled you are doing better. with the best wishes and love from the Meakers.
  • @12345.......
I had no idea there was a laser adjustment like that.
  • Ali express has the ps1 laser assembly for $15 I believe. It worked like a charm for me. Happy to hear you are in remission Steve!

i recently picked up 20 super famicom controllers from japan, sold as parts. been fixing them up as i get free time. some of them are INCREDIBLY nasty with the shmoo inside haha! iso wasnt touching it, so i stuck all the plastic shells in very hot soapy water and let them soak, and then gave them a scrub with a toothbrush and a sponge. worked amazingly well, and fast vs the iso. thank you for repairing these old consoles! i love seeing this stuff repaired, or at the very least used for parts, instead of thrown away
  • Really glad to hear you are in remission Steve! Get well soon, take care and God bless

Some people don't treasure old video games and treat them like obsolete technology! I remember I bought a Sega Saturn from a lady and she ended up giving me a bunch of other consoles, including one of these second generation Genesis console!
