The Bee Gees were a singing trio of brothers — Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. They were born on the Isle of Man to English parents, lived in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, England, United Kingdom and during their childhood years moved to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, where they began their musical careers. Their worldwide success came when they returned to the United Kingdom and signed with producer Robert Stigwood.
The multiple award-winning group was successful for most of its forty years of recording music, but it had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a harmonic "soft rock" act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and as the foremost stars of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang three-part tight harmonies that were instantly recognizable; as brothers, their voices blended perfectly, in the same way that The Everly Brothers and The Beach Boys did. Barry sang lead on many songs, in an R&B falsetto introduced in the disco years; Robin provided the clear vibrato lead that was a hallmark of their pre-disco music; Maurice sang high and low harmonies throughout their career. The three brothers co-wrote most of their hits, and they said that they felt like they became 'one person' when they were writing. The group's name was retired after Maurice died suddenly in January 2003.
The Bee Gees were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997; fittingly, the presenter of the award to "Britain's first family of harmony" was Brian Wilson, leader of the Beach Boys, America's first family of rock harmony.
It has been estimated that the Bee Gees' record sales total more than 200 million, easily making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. The above figure in record sales does not include record sales for artists for whom they have written and with whom they have collaborated. Their 1997 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame citation says "Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees

  • This performance is why I still defend the Bee Gees as one of the greatest pop rock bands of all time.

Somewhere I saw Barry say that when he and Robin would sing, Maurice always knew exactly where and how to fill in the third part of their harmonies. This is my favorite performance of this song, not only because they sound amazing but because it's such a treat to hear Maurice take the falsetto responses at the end.

Not a single piece of wireless gear on that stage, no wireless ear monitors yet Barry knows he nailed the opening verse and Robin locks right on to the harmonies. No digital reverb to mask vocal flaws, any reverb is from the venue itself. The mix is awesome. Amazing confidence to pull this off live. Absolutely top-notch.

The real deal, Look at Robin using his hand to make sure the harmony is perfect. This group had so many layers of talent on stage and seemed to always pull off an amazing show
  • @fakerating
This video proves that Maurice did the falsetto toward the end.
  • This is one of the greatest Bee Gees songs, listen to the fact that Maurice is is the one singing the falsettos!!
  • One of the few songs where Maurice's voice can be heard clearly. So great to see him play a big part in the performance. Wish it had happened more often.

Doesn't matter what genre you listen to , this song is a masterpiece. The groove, rhythm section thumping, wah-wah, insane harmonies & falsettos, the mid-song slow down, then ramp it back up. A true live, sweating under the lights performance on top. Just brilliant. Can't stop the toe-tappin.............

Maurice was going at it with that bass!! Not only was he hitting the lows with that bass, but he was killing it with the falsetto! He is too overlooked! The Bee Gees would have never been the same without him! Best band out there!

I don't think people appreciate how many moving parts there are in this song. It is difficult to get all of it perfect. And Maurice in particular was really on his game that night!
  • @danhosmer1401
Robin is nicely dressed and handsome with a unique beautiful voice! Barry loved his brothers 💛

To be born at the right time and place is remarkable, but 3 brothers is a miracle.
  • followed them from their first album..Maurice sat back.. but never took second stage.. his bass playing and falsetto put this whole song together.
