John Entwistle kicked some serious ass on the bass on this song. He played bass like a lead guitar. RIP John!

I saw this played on that tour in '82, in Philly. The lineup was the Hooters, Santana, The Clash, and The Who. Now THAT was a show.

1982, hell I was already well into my 20s.....Thanks to my older brother who introduced me to The Who, LZ, Cream, and other great bands when I was in ELEMENTARY school, I was already a HUGE Who fan. Now? I'm ancient. Somehow along the way, I blew out my liver, survived a mild bout with cancer, and bested two heart attacks. I like to think that these boys and their High-Test piss-and-vinegar music helped me along the way. Now I am old and just wealthy enough to own a wonderfully outrageous stereo system that I could only dream about in high school. So, I get to enjoy it all over again and exactly the way it was SUPPOSED to sound. I sure do hope my neighbors like them. Thanks Gents!

Who else wanted Pete's intro solo to go on like five minutes longer?

This song is still so badass! 😎 Who else is listening in 2021?
  • @NickoFilipo
And as always, John gets 2 seconds of footage for an entire body of work! Insane how epic the bass riffs are

You know it's a badass song when the solo starts at the very beginning before the lyrics even start.

The Who saved my life while growing up in an abusive home. I can always put there music on and Escape to another world, even to this day. Thank you to The Who for freeing me when I needed it.
  • It was 1983 and yearbook photo day. When asked, "name please," the kid in front of me grinningly replied, "Pete Townshend." The photographer assistant wrote it down, the photographer snapped his photo, and that's how I graduated with Pete Townshend. Life seemed simpler then. 🤘🤘
  • It’s not often you heard a Who track with Townsend on the vocals, but when he stepped up. You knew he was gonna blow you away. The greatest band to come out of West London. No questions asked, no quarter given.

I’m 28. I’m jamming out to this in 2022. This recording is 40 years old. Truly legendary music

How rare it is that a rock song packs a keyboard solo and a guitar shredding solo before the main chorus and refrains... great construction and to pull it off like this. Wow.
  • @alpowell
40 years after it was recorded, this is possibly the most compelling tune they have ever performed...and they have done a lot of them.

The first 2 minutes where we see Pete caress that guitar along with his facial expression shows how much passion he has for that song. Such an underrated guitarist

Flying throughout Los Santos with this playing was and still is breathtaking.

John Entwhistles base was like thunder that night. It shook the whole arena Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto I was there!
  • Saw them in person for the first time in St. Louis in October, 2022, with my 17 year old grandson. I’m 72 and I have been to hundreds of concerts in my lifetime and I can honestly say I was blow away by the entire concert, but when they did this song! Holy Moly! I’m hooked. Rates in the top five concerts of my life. Absolutely amazing and my grandson was knocked out! He’ll remember it for his entire life!

The strong baseline makes this song one of my TOP 20 favorites
