Today, weā€™re going to take a look at how salt can effectively get rid of bacteria, fungi, yeast, and mold in the body. Salt causes water to move out of the cell, eliminating these pathogens through dehydration.

Salt thins mucus with this same mechanism. Salt removes water from the mucus, making it thinner so that it can be more easily expelled from the body.

To eliminate mucus using salt, dissolve a teaspoon of sea salt (not table salt) in a glass of water. Drink or gargle the salt water. This exposes the mouth and throat to salt, which helps to get rid of mucus, improves immunity, and strengthens the autonomic nervous system.

You can also use diluted apple cider vinegar. This changes the pH and helps kill microbes.

A Neti pot uses nasal irrigation to gently send a stream of diluted salt water through your sinuses, helping to thin the mucus. If you have a constant post-nasal drip, you may have a fungal infection or mold issue going on in your sinuses, and cutting sugar from your diet may help.

You can also use a humidifier with a saltwater solution while you sleep. A humidifier turns liquid into vapor, allowing you to inhale the salt water. Halotherapy, or salt therapy, can also be beneficial.

If none of these remedies seem to be working, an ear infection could be the source of your mucus. In this case, try putting four to five drops of saltwater directly into each ear. You can try the same thing with diluted apple cider vinegar or use one drop of garlic oil in each ear.

Vitamin D supports your immune system and helps prevent mucus. Vitamin D deficiencies are associated with enlarged tonsils, sinus allergies, sinus mucus, and ear infections. Try taking 20,000 to 50,000 IU of vitamin D once per week to address mucus.

I used to always have throat mucus pretty much my entire life. I would drive my wife crazy by constantly clearing my throat. I noticed it would get worse after eating grains. These days I eat close to zero grains and never have throat mucus problems anymore.

I recommend using baking soda paste as a toothpaste and salt water as a mouthwash while being sick like you're explaining. Generally toothpastes have sugar and fluoride, two things that encourage more "yuck".

I have visited many doctors for a year now always explaining to them I feel mucus coming from my ear and plugging the flow of the air, I feel like a bubble in the ear. I had multiple panic attacks because of this finally I found someone talking about what I'm feeling.

Thank you Dr.Berg! After an intense sneeze on April 19th , 2024 I've been suffering with intense throat pain every time I swallow. Basically the feeling of glass shards going down the right side of my throat. As if a thick slime is stuck in that area. I started doing a Netty pot twice a day for the last two weeks with little relief. On my third doctors visit a culture was finally ran and it wasnā€™t strep throat. I was prescribed two opioids for pain and given an ENT appointment in two weeks. The three doctors only seemed focused on telling me a sneeze wouldn't cause throat pain. They didn't really acknowledge my symptoms. I did not fill the RX for the opioids. No thanks. Last night at midnight the first thing on my feed was Dr. Berg talking about sinuses. After watching the video twice, I leaped out of bed, mixed some Himalayan salt water to drink and put some drops in my ears. I woke up this morning feeling amazing. I realize I may be suffering from an inner ear infection. My ears havenā€™t felt this open in awhile and itā€™s only been less than one day using the salt. My pain has gone down to 1 out of 10 which is down from an 8 of out 10. You are amazing Dr. Berg and I am grateful for you and your work. Thank you šŸŽ‰ šŸ˜€

I am from India and I had tonsil growing up and have dust allergy, doctors here always recommend warm salt water gargle. It is also pretty common here since ancient times. We use normal sea salt. Some people cant swallow or gargle with salt water coz they might vomit, for them commonly betadine gargling solution is used. Even with severe throat infections which are treated with antibiotics, doctors still recommend salt water gargling and it surely does help and I can testify to that. If some one has mild throat itchiness, they can cure it just by gargling 2-3 times a day. The key is to start early and not wait till it gets worse.Good to see a western doctor sharing this easy home remedy. PS : Steam helps tremendously for for blocked nose and sinus. Steam from pots, steam rooms they not only clear nostrils but helps clearing mucus from chest as well. Another thing that helps chest mucus cleaning is swimming. I am no expert but these are my personal life experiences.
  • Love your channel. Several of my health problem have been solved using your advice and just changing what I eat. I know they want to censor this kind of information. Thank you for pushing back with such important knowledge. We appreciate it!

Salt is not the enemy. My mom was put on No salt diet by her PCP due to her slightly elevated blood pressure. Fast forward, now she developed hyponatremia with 127 on her ER blood work. She became week and almost at lethargic state due to low sodium in her body.

Iā€™m suffering with constant post nasal drip, frequent sinus headaches and infections, and ear popping. So so tired of suffering constantly and taking tons of medicines that really arenā€™t helping. Yearlong symptoms. Iā€™m diagnosed with both indoor and outdoor allergies. Iā€™m so glad I stumbled upon this!

Iā€™m so glad you out this up. For YEARS Iā€™ve been dealing with excessive mucus in my throat and itā€™s horrible.
  • Why does todays medicine seem to do the opposite of the way the body naturally heals . I learn so much watching these videos
  • When I was young, I became ill and couldn't even keep water down. The doctors were baffled. As a last resort, I was given salt water, in sips only. It worked.

I appreciate the mention of fungus, because Iā€™ve had chronic sinus troubles for years and in prayer it recently came to me that a form of candidiasis was the culprit. Iā€™ve been guided to cut way back on breads and sugar as you mention here, and my massage therapist suggested mineral salts to help clear out the mucus. This is very helpful, thank you!
