A special report into the impact of coronavirus on people with learning disabilities

Published 2020-05-13
People with learning disabilities in England, could be at greater risk during the pandemic, according to figures seen by BBC Breakfast.
Data from the Care Quality Commission, which focuses on care settings where people with learning disabilities may live, show a 175-percent increase in the number of deaths last month, compared with the same period last year.
But while elderly people are automatically entitled to be tested for Covid-19, people with a learning disability are not, as Breakfast's Jayne McCubbin has been finding out.

It’s all terribly sad. How productive are these people? How unpleasant are their lives? (Particularly when their long suffering parents are too old to look after them.) Ultimately are they not better off just being put to sleep?
