I adopted a deaf, blind cat and I use my breathing to communicate with him. The first two years were really rough, but we’ve gotten pretty far this year.

My last cat (gone a couple of years now) actually took that eating behavior one step further. Anytime I ate around her she'd park her butt nearby and look in a different direction then I was facing (usually back to back if my back wasn't facing the wall) I never fed her scraps and she didn't beg so the only thing I could figure was she was keeping watch for me while I ate.

I will never forget the time that I got accepted by a mother cat to be alone with her kittens. When I was 14 years old, my mom had me go with her to her friends house. In the house was a first-time mother cat who was taken in by my mother's friend from an abusive household. When I was interacting with the kittens, the mother cat decided to check up on her kittens, and she saw me,then she shook her head yes and walked away, leaving me alone with her kittens. I was stunned, and when I asked my mother's friend if the mother cat allowed anyone else to be alone with her kittens? My mother's friend said no, I was the only one that Mother Cat allowed to be alone with her kittens.

After growing up being taught by my mother to despise cats, when I hit 50 my son talked me into getting a cat. She really loves me!

Slow blinking is a sign of trust. Winking with just one eye is showing love.

one of the cats i adopted, we found her in a parking lot in very bad conditions and she looks like she's probably been mistreated a lot. anytime she sleeps, she never shows her belly because of how defensive she has always been since we saved her... more and more lately ( after 3 years ) she's been sleeping in ways that exposes her stomach, and also seems to genuinely more peaceful and it makes me so proud and blessed to know that despite everything she's been through she's finally at peace and feels safe in my house with me <3

My rescue cat now does all of this with me. She was anxious and a very tough case, but she has come so far.

when i was a kid, like seven or eight years old, my family had an outdoor/indoor cat who would literally walk me and my siblings to the school bus stop every single day. she would wait for us to be ready to leave, then walk beside us the entire way, and it took like ten minutes in total to reach the bus stop. once we got there, she would sit and wait with us for the bus. when the bus arrived and we boarded it, she would head back home or run off to explore. AND, at the end of the school day, she was always there to greet us when we got off the bus because she knew roughly when it would show up. then she would walk us home. her name was sophie and she was one of the sweetest cats i've ever known
  • Lol, my cat literally allows me to use her as a pillow and does "whoever blinks first loses" contests with me.

The cat better give me a mother's day gift.

My cat died last year right after my birthday. This did make me feel loved. I miss him so much. I use to slow blink at him all the time and so did he, he also slept with me and use to wake me up when he needed to go out by rubbing my bag gently. He was the sweetest boy ever. He loved being held like a baby with his tummy up and being rubbed.

Depending on the location and circumstances, kittens usually run for cover when scared and not towards their mother. They then wait for her to get them or give the all clear signal. It's not safe to run towards the mom because that could expose them to predators, and they instinctively know that.

When I come home and the boys greet me at the door…it’s just the coolest👍🏾

I appreciate how concise this video is, tbh. Getting straight to the point and not prolonging explanations is a nice touch these days 👏👏

I adopted my girl when she was about 5 years old. She recoiled from everyone and had been turned in to the Cat Protection Society twice. I read her story online and decided to go and meet her. I was warned that I needed to be careful because she was very inclined to hiss and swipe. Instead of that, she licked my nose. She was very hand shy and it was clear she had been hit. But from the first night she jumped on the bed and slept with me and has a bit of an obsession with grooming my hands (hard to sleep!). We slow blink a lot and there is also a one eye blink. She is 19 and still does zoomies. She is a tortie so I have to roll with that. If any of you have problems with your kitty and a vacuum - just leave it not running in various places. Once it has been sniffed out and examined most cats understand it is not after them. We also 'nearly' have thunderstorms defeated. Soothing music and lots of calm normal behaviour might prevent running somewhere to 'hide'. Now my girl just wants to lie on the same side of the bed as me. Love your cats because they are capable of so much love in return. It may not be the same as a dog but has its own rewards. I would have a menagerie if I was able.
