The college football game between Colorado State and Utah State had an absolutely wild ending as Colorado State lost on one of the worst clock management blunders of all time... Utah State kicked field goal with five minutes remaining to take a two score 26-17 lead over the Rams. The game appeared to be out of reach, but Colorado State quickly drove down the field and scored a TD to cut the Utah State lead to 26-24. They then forced Utah State to punt and got the ball back with 45 seconds remaining. Once again, they quickly moved the ball down the field and a big third down conversion put them inside the Utah State 30 yard line with 11 seconds left. As we all know, the clock stops on a first down in college football. However, apparently Colorado State forgot this was the case and rushed their field goal team out onto the field as if the clock was running down. They could have spiked the ball or even ran another play. Instead they rushed to kick the field goal and their kicker missed. As a result, Utah State held on for a 26-24 victory over the visiting Colorado State Rams.

    Imagine losing like this 😅

Edit: So apparently Colorado State doesn’t even have a special teams coordinator on their staff. That could be a big reason for why this sequence was such a mess 😬

Having a special teams coordinator is part of the diversity a staff needs

CSU head coach Addazio after the game said that the kicking unit just ran onto the field, they were not sent out. What I took away from that statement is that the head coach failed at teaching disciplined football. He is an 11th year coach, let that sink in.

    whoa...
    1) why are the coaches yelling at the center? This was a coaching fail!
    2) they actually set up fairly decently for the rushed situation, but was the O-line set?

As an Aggie fan, I totally thought we choked. We got so lucky. This and 2018 against CSU were both insane!

Heartbreaking for those kids to lose due to an absolutely ABYSMAL coaching decision. It’s not like he JUST barely made the 1st down, he made the 1st down by at least 5+ yards. All they had to do as the announcer said was spike it, then they would have had all the time they needed to setup the field goal. And like I said, make no mistake, that is 1000% on the coaches.

Probably Steve Addazio’s doing. I never thought he was a great coach at Boston College. They always had a decent team but they constantly we’re outcoached, and made too many bad decisions coaching wise.

Gosh dude. They could’ve totally won it if they just spiked it!
  • As a neutral this upset me so much, had Utah St on the ropes and you lose because of a complete lack of awareness

The holder was the last guy that could have done something. He would be a hero if he stood up and spiked the ball.

CSU coaches should donate what they would have earned for the game to the CSU scholarship program after that blunder.

The coaches lost this game. Absolutely baffling!!

Man, that kicker did not look like a happy Camper!

    I"ll see myself out.

As a Nebraska fan, I feel so much better that we're not the only team that makes terrible play-calling decisions.
  • I don’t understand how players and coaches at the collegiate level aren’t bright enough to understand that situation. That’s embarrassing and pretty damn pathetic lol

Dude I was just at the game what a crazy mix of emotions 😳

Coaches need to yell at themselves!!! Totally coaching BIFF!!! I’m in Minnesota and WASTED 3 hours just to watch the coaches screw them out of a win!!!! I watched CS against New Mexico last week and became a fan…. Welp… moving on!

why the coach yelling at his team am i stupid or wasn’t that a complete coaching error

At the 2:10 mark you can clearly see number #85 for Colorado motioning to line up and spike the ball, the announcers were saying spike the ball, not one player on Colorado should've been yelled at after the game, all those damn coaches on the sideline watched everything go down and did NOTHING!!!!! 🤷🤦
