Kids who "try too hard" have been a thing for a very long time. It's why media going back to at least the 70's, if not earlier (Grease immediately comes to mind) has the smart, nerdy kids being made fun of. I hated the negative attention of being the smart kid, but I still wouldn't trade it. P.S. I too had jealous people in music classes picking on me for "trying too hard", but I played the clarinet which was not even a little bit cool, lmao. It's mostly gotten better as I've gotten older, more people respect and value the effort that I put into things now. Which... is probably partially because I'm an adult and have more say in who I spend time around. Anyway. Sorry for the ramble. Found you through nBurd and decided to pop in, watch some content and say hello.
