Can we get a V5 Climber to V7 in just one session?

Plateau in climbing can be hard to deal with but there are some great things that we talk about in this video that will help you push past them.

That feeling of breaking into a new grade is such a good one! Well done Louis
  • So hyped to see Louis incrementally get closer to sticking the move and then sending it all the way. I can send most V6s in a session or two but I only have one V7 under my belt yet. I feel like I need to adobt the projecting mentality and step up my game!

Really does show that climbing with someone who is skilled (whether a coach or not) can have amazing benefits. Well done, and congrats on the first v7🎉

Happy to see him sent it, and I always give up in bad mood when I couldn‘t send the route, this video it is motivating, thx

This is the first of your flashpoint videos where I've tried the climbs you're showing - the pink was also my first v7!

  • Congrats to Louis! Josh, this is your best and most relatable video, more like this pls.

The stuff about resting more between attempts was great advice. As Louis admitted, you largely rush because you feel the muscle memory will dial in better if you immediately try again. But maybe if you’re spamming the not-quite-right movement pattern coz you’re too tired to fully execute then you might be training your body to fall short anyway, like reinforcing failure, on top of the fact you’re digging an ever deeper hole of fatigue? Trouble is, as a middle aged dad of small kids, I’m lucky if I get to the gym once per week, and I’m lucky if I can stay there for one full hour including warm up. So I’m probably doomed to never rest or progress in my frantic narrow windows of opportunity at the gym!

I have 3 pairs of those Iati’s in different sizes. I love that climbing shoe!

Fun video as always, but what will probably be the best thing for his progression is to take a step back and work on footwork. Just in the few climbs we see, footwork and trusting his feet are obviously the major weaknesses
