Houston-area attorney ‘resigns’ license after clients claim he stole settlement checks

More than six months after KPRC 2 exposed a Houston-area attorney accused of stealing settlement checks from his clients who had been injured in car accidents, the longtime attorney tells reporter Bryce Newberry he has decided to resign his license.

  • People don't understand the way the law works. By resigning his license he just removed the jurisdiction the State Bar had over him. He is still open to lawsuits the clients may bring against him not to mention fraud cases they may file with the DA. Don't give up. Go after him.
  • Yep. That tracks. If the Texas Bar Association was worth anything, they would do what they should have done, before he resigned. It should be on the official, permanent record.
