Stranger Things was an absolute phenomenon for Netflix when it hit their streaming service back in 2016. A whole lot has changed since then, but the show is just as popular as ever with their latest fourth season being ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA ALL THE TIME, and even sending a 37 year-old song back to the top of the charts.

Stranger Things Season 4 raises a lot of questions though. Like is Vecna from the Magical World of Wizarding? How did both Hopper and Brenner survive? Do loveable new characters always need to die? How did everyone manage to do exactly what needed to be done at the exact same time without communicating with each other? What happened during that two day jump?!

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Stranger Things Season 4! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

“I just needed something for Mike to do." Truer words have never been spoken.
  • "Didn't he die in the first season? Wasn't he killed by a demogorgan?" "No, he survived" "How?" "By not explicitly dying on screen.." How many truths can this man speak in 6 minutes..
  • The annoying thing about Eddie’s death is that they only needed one tiny change so that it doesn’t seem like he’s just throwing his life away. Have it so, after they’ve resealed the trailer, the bats disengage and start heading back to the mansion. Now he has to get their attention again to make sure the bats don’t kill Steve, robyn and Nancy. Now his death directly ensured the success of the mission, rather than just being ancillary

"Because being on the roof looks cooler" I like how this is from the point of view of the show creators, but it's also probably exactly the in-character reason Eddie did it

Hopper surviving was implausible enough, but the writers didn’t even try to explain how Dr. Brenner was still alive. He just survived “by being offscreen for a bit.”
  • "HE'S NOT VOLDERMORT!" "Does he have a nose?" "Sh!t." Okay Ryan, you got me with that one.
  • @masterxl97
"What's he bringing to the party?" "A van and salt access!" More of a contribution than literally anything Mike's done in three seasons.
  • I wished Ryan mentioned the fact that there’s a high level of radioactivity in the Upside Down. That’s why Joyce and Hopper wore hazmat suits when they entered the Upside Down in season 1. In season 4, the whole gang just went in without any hazmat suits 😂

I can't believe that I never noticed the connection between Vecna and Voldemort before, down to the hatred for their fathers!
  • @Sandouras
Hopper getting his ankles broken and then running around like nothing happened was the worst plothole/ error for me.

"A seemly lovable character introduced in a new season of Stranger Things, that is pretty much a death sentence." Truer words never spoken.
  • You know Will got forgotten so bad he didn't even make a 6 minute pitch video on YouTube 😂
  • @Qwnntm
"Jonathan has a new friend named Argyle" "What's he bringing to the table?" " A van and salt access " 💀💀💀💀
  • @EL_Pineda
"Why didnt he do that preformance next to the door" "Because being on the roof looks a lot cooler" Indeed it looked a lot cooler!
  • @snazzydrew
"he's a seemingly lovable character introduced in a new season of Stranger Things, that's pretty much a death sentence" Look. I'm still not over Bob's death in season 2.

I was also a bit confused as to why MAX was the only kid left for Vecna? Like... it showed him "scanning" basically anyone he wants. He could have easily just picked a new kid as soon as she used her music and been done with this whole thing / gates opened. Eazy-Peazy...
  • "Conversations? Couldn't She Not Talk Back Then?" "HeyShutUp So Anyways...." Never Gets Old
  • Biggest super easy barely an inconvenience moment ever "He got out of the way."

I'm glad you pointed out how pointless Eddie's death was. I said it while watching, "They don't even need to distract the bats anymore, why did he go back?"
  • @DangRenBo
My biggest problem with this episode? Eddy does a perfect performance of Master of Puppets within days of its release. That completely broke my suspension of disbelief. Haha.
