My fifteen year quest for the ideal, reasonably-priced home espresso system has finally ended. You can go much, much higher end, but you'll be happy with this setup for around $1800.

Ah, a 72-second-long steam and the milk is still bit thin. I'm really happy to have invested into an HX with 1.8 l boiler.

Great video. I wish I found this video before I purchased my gaggia classic pro.
  • Very Interesting!! Thank u for making this video! I have not heard of this brand and I will look into it! I am planning on buying the Lelit Victoria for the PID and Monometer! For the price I believe this is the best I can fine with both 58 mm Porta filter and PID and monometer. .
  • Awesome work Blair! There are a lot of good points here that we cover almost daily with every customer. Thank you for making this I'm sure it'll be helpful for quite a lot of people.
  • This is a great (and "real") video. How is the input and output measured? Or is the video process just using a process that's been vetted in the past? I.e. Weighing the portafilter before and after grinding, and also using a scale under the espresso while brewing (was never done).

Well done presentation, coming from a retired salesman. What you say is what I have found to be true. I was not familiar with Chris' Coffee or Quick Mill as a brand. I love my new Quick Mill Alexia with Flow Control. Chris' Coffee is easy to do business with. I have been making espresso at home with a Brugnetti Simona for over 20 years and the new technology along with a new grinder has made espresso brewing not only better, but also effortless. PID rules! I had to temperature surf my old machine and it would get too hot if it had been on for a few hours, which took additional time to cool it down. The Alexia stays the same temp. Question, my machine came set at 202 brew temp, I see you brewed in the video at 203, is that what you have found to work the best? I like medium dark roast for espresso beans. My dopio this morning seemed perfect at the 202 setting. Good choice for a machine, BTW. If I knew my girlfriend would like decaf cappuccinos so much, I might have gone with a Silvano. The Alexia steams well, but it takes a minute or so to get there. Happy New Year!
