Bro thought he was HIM after beating Big Mom (when 70-80% of the work was done by Law) and wanted to run it back in round 2 against Shanks (he lost more than his arm this time 💀)

What I liked the most about this exchange is how full overkill Shanks went on the kid pirates, slicing Kid so damn hard the mast behind him was cleaved in half, one shoting Kid and humiliatingly robbing him of his arm a second time only to then have his ship annihilated by a pair of overwhelmingly powerful giants. This is textbook WHY you don't go guns blazing into enemy territory, especially one belonging to someone like Shanks but Kid is like a gamer who only focuses on one character and leaves the others underdeveloped and thus, while powerful, he was always destined to be overwhelmed and destroyed by people who know the game.

Kid's character serves as a nice contrast to Luffy's struggles in the past, because although both of them are impulsive and inconsenquent, what marks their differences is how both of them reacted to defeat, to failure. After getting completely defeated in Sabaody, then in the war, Luffy (with the help and advice of people who cared for him) decided that they had to retreat, to become stronger and to prepare for the new word. His confidence at that loss was shattered, then rebuilt with a new perspective of loss, consequence and protection. It seems that in none of the times that Kid and his crew lost, he learned anything. His confidence levels shoot right up at the smallest sign of success, and his view did't change after any of his losses, he completely denies and ignores them due to his pride, and he never gained any maturity from them. It's basically the contrast between humility and lack there of (pride)

I have to get some eye drops and watch the last ep in slow motion cuz I’m tryin to see this Kidd vs Shanks battle, but every time I watch it I blink and it’s over.

Both Luffy and Kid got one shotted by Kaido. One levelled up in prison to fight a yonko one on one, the other needed a partner to get a yonko at 200% before he can use his down smash move.

In my opinion kid has always been the weakest between law and Luffy and now he is probably like the fifth strongest of the worst generation although it’s possible at sixth now that Bonney has gotten her manga power up although I haven’t read any manga so idk
