"The 1970 revival at Asbury College will go down in history as one of the greatest supernatural events of the last half of the 20th century. Millions of people across the United States and the world were impacted by it. This simple video odes a wonderful job of conveying something of the outpouring's heart and power. Everyone we have ever shown this to have an immediate impartation of faith for revival and the power of prayer. What God did once at this campus, we believe He will do again on every campus where a group of students will open their hearts to Him."

What is true Revival and Spiritual Awakening? Discover the answer in this eyewitness account by Dennis Kinlaw, President of Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky, who recounts the story of a visitation of the Holy Spirit in 1970. If you are a student who longs to see a spiritual awakening at your school, you must see this video!

This is the presentation that has continued to spark the flames of Revival in the hearts of people around the world. Contains eyewitness footage from the Revival at Asbury College in 1970 in Wilmore, Kentucky. Certain to challenge you to greater holiness and a deeper commitment to full-scale revival. Original news and private footage has been included.

WILMORE, Kentucky -- One morning in 1970, without warning, all heaven broke loose during Asbury College's 10 a.m. chapel service.

"When you walked into the back of Hughes Auditorium ... there was a kind of an aura, kind of a glow about the chapel," said Dr. David Hunt, a Louisville physician who was then a student.

"I always have been reminded of the verse 'Take off your shoes, for you are standing on holy ground.' You just walked in and sensed that God had indeed sent His Spirit."

The service, a routine meeting, was scheduled for 50 minutes. Instead, it lasted 185 hours non-stop, 24 hours a day. Intermittently, it continued for weeks. Ultimately, it spread across the United States and into foreign countries. Some say it is being felt even today.

2010 will mark the 40th anniversary of the landmark 1970 Asbury College revival, an unplanned, unled display of fervor that has been compared to the Great Awakenings of 1740 and 1800. This year will also mark the 60th anniversary of a strikingly similar revival Asbury experienced in 1950.

A bigger outbreak -- a global revival, in fact -- will begin soon, says David McKenna, president of adjacent Asbury Theological Seminary, in his new book, The Coming Great Awakening.

The revival might not start at Asbury, but it probably will begin on campuses, says McKenna, a noted author. He travels to many colleges and says, "I see the signs wherever I go."

Those signs include a generation of students wounded by family breakdowns and searching for spiritual fulfillment. Much of the coming revival will be a delayed reaction, McKenna thinks, to what happened at Asbury College 20 years ago.

  • I witnessed this as a young girl of 19 when revival came. Freshmen were on the balcony of Hughes Auditorium. We could look down on the others. When the Holy Spirit visited that place in such a powerful way (my knees were knocking), BEFORE students headed to the altar they were looking around for fellow students they were at odds with. I saw so many go to the altar TOGETHER. I will never, ever forget that. We (as the Church) should learn from this.
  • February 8, 2023 revival began again in the same chapel and has now been going for days. People are beginning to travel from all over to experience it.

I am an Asbury grad from ‘77. I missed the Revival, but if there is ever a place where God dwells, it is in Hughes Auditorium! I wouldn’t trade anything for my years there!

Have been deeply moved by this ever since I heard about it 10 or 15 years ago. Somewhere I read a collection of the personal accounts of students who were there. The description of how it felt to walk into Hughes Auditorium, the overwhelming presence of God, the sacred ground like the burning bush, the awe of the majesty of God, and the intense desire to get right with God and clean from sin, thrills me to the core. Lord bring revival again and let it begin with me.
  • Dr. Dennis Kinlaw is an amazing individual. Love him dearly. He is a blessing and I know him personally. He is a great Christian man!

‘If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land’ (2 Chronicles 7:14). Thus says the Lord: “For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants and My blessing on your offspring” (Isaiah 44:3).

When the revival started, I was a senior at a high school in nearby Lexington.  The older brother of one of my schoolmates recommitted his life to the Lord, shared with his younger brother who in turn shared with a group of us in a friend's home on Friday night, February 27, 1970.  It was the first time I'd ever heard of having a personal relationship with Jesus, and I jumped at the chance.  The road these last 44 years has been rough and rocky at times, many years choosing sin over Jesus, but I never let go of God, and He never let go of me.  I am truly grateful to have heard His voice when He whispered my name.
  • No, Jom, it was not "mass hysteria." G-d was there. A lot of prayer went into this by a small group for months prior to this. The key was: Prayer. My husband (a senior at Asbury then) was on a field trip in DC when this happened. I was so bummed that he was missing this! But the head of the History Dept. sent word that revival had "hit them" in DC also. This was an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all those who were students at the school whether they were present or not. Miraculous.

I was so very blessed to have been there in Hughes Auditorium for the Revival in 1970. I was a senior, sitting just about in the middle of the center section right in front of the platform. Dr. Kinlaw. who was our college president at that time was absolutely correct -- there was nor preacher -- this move of God was all about personal confrontation with sin in our lives as the Holy Spirit opened our eyes, with confession before our brothers and sisters as the Holy Spirit broke down the walls of pride and self, and was about "letting go and letting God" release us from our burden of guilt and shame and replace that burden with sweet peace and joy and Holy love. To this day that revival experience has been the most moving and most durable experience I have ever had with God. I cannot hear about, think about or talk about that Revival without leaking tears all over again, for Heaven came down and Glory filled my soul. I wish you all could have been there with me to hear Jesus speak in the words of my fellow students, and to bask in the Presence of the Holy Spirit. His Grace and Mercy are almost impossible to describe, but I can tell you this -- He changed my life! Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow! You know ... nothing is impossible with God ... He can do it again, right where you live! Are you praying?
  • Thank you , thank you, thank you for posting this. Our God is truly Wonderful! An Outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the glory of Jesus Christ is the One true hope of our nation. Do it again Lord, do it again!
  • @chobeeboy44
I was praying the other day, and JESUS welled up inside of me and said to my heart, "I STILL desire to have a harvest in America." I wept because I felt HIS longing. Listen.....we the church, not our pastors alone are the representation of JESUS to a dying world. If your heart is cold to the lost, then get on your face and pray until you are broken.
  • Praise Jesus do it again Lord let it rain fire from the throne room of God
  • Praise the Lord for this powerful and beautiful testimony. God did it then , He can and ,will do it again . Let’s just humble ourselves at His feet
  • @myra7730
