Saw this match live. Rafa was a shadow of even the Rafa we’ve seen earlier this week. The long matches has really taken a toll on him. I’m just so thankful to have witnessed him for a whole week, and happy that his body has held up. VAMOS ❤🎉

its clear that Rafa was exhausted from the last three sets two matches. he is 38, can't manage such a pressure anymore

Congrats to Nuno! Classy speech. Rafa battled hard, but hard to see him winning another title or playing beyond 2024.

What a great honor for the young man, reaching his first ATP final, and defeating the GOAT on clay for his first championship trophy. And good looking to boot, too!!

    first round: Borg Final: Borges

Huge game by Borges. Congrats to him! I think there are many disrespectful comments here. Nadal has played great tennis this week. Reaching a final after all his struggles in recent years is a huge achievement. All these people don't recognize the greatness of other players - even Nadal at his prime lost games against lower ranked players on clay.

Funny how quickly tennis fans change their mind. When Nadal and Novak make the finals tennis fans are like ‘wow the GOATS still going strong 💪’ then when they lose it’s like ‘omg end of an era, time to retire old men’

Goosebumps seeing the hug. You just know this man has beaten his long time idol, winning his first tournament at the same time.

I am still felling happythat Rafa has come back till Finall... dont give up Rafa... keep strong and move...warm regard and strong praying from Indonesia

A lot of physical exhaustion prior to the final (12 hours of playing on court, double that of his rival) meant that Nadal arrived exhausted and could not do anything against Nuno Borges. Let's see if in Paris, especially in the doubles category, Nadal can make history with Alcaraz and get a medal for his country, Spain.

Loved that reaction from Borges, first incredulous and a second later the victory sinks in and he's on his knees. Well done! 👍

It cannot be better winning the first ATP-title by beating Rafa... Congrats to Borges! 👍
  • very happy for Nuno Borges. Came up to the pros the hard way, played college tennis did really well, then ITF, did well, then worked really hard and won several challengers, now on ATP big boy tour full time in 2024, had an amazing Australian open run (beat Dimitrov et al) and now wins his first ATP title in his first final. Very humble person, he took a picture with my little son just mins after he had a disappointing loss in a first round grass tournament and gave him a big smile. I know this comments section is mostly about Rafa fans demanding unreasonable results from Nadal but I'm here to say Congrats Nuno, supper happy for you, and hope you have more success! And Nadal fans, yeah sure he's king of clay blah blah but this is a sport, with small margins, and getting back to top form takes time, at least respect the athlete you support and the hard work he's putting in, instead of telling to retire because you can't contain your disappointment sitting on your couch.

    Borges played really well.

I think Borge’s calm demeanor will take him deep in big tournaments
